Terra (LUNA) identified a potential phishing attack on its website and advised users to take precautionary measures not to fall victim to the scam. Posting on X (Twitter), the terra_money official handle spotted a hostile entity using the terra(dot)money identity to carry out phishing attempts and asked users to avoid using the site.
Following the warning of a potential scam, Terra advised community members to stick to the project’s official channels for updates. Warning them to avoid any interaction with the phishing platform that can retrieve users’ sensitive data and use them for nefarious activities.
Several crypto users suspect the threat results from a domain takeover following Terra’s mention of “secure full access to the domain”. One of the respondents to the threat announcement, Maslin Edwin, suggested that the original owners of the terra(dot)money domain name may have forgotten to renew their subscription, leading to a domain name takeover.
A Terra web developer identified as Kiruse on X claimed the attackers aimed to steal users’ private information. Kiruse warned users not to enter their seed phrase on terra(dot)money, as the website is currently a phishing site. He noted that the latest station extension is SAFU. However, he advised users to take precautions and avoid using the station.
According to reports, the terra(dot)money website is being investigated for its potential involvement in a phishing campaign. Therefore, Terra has urged users to stick to X, Discord, and Telegram for official communications.
This development leaves bearish pressure on LUNC, Terra Classic’s native coin. The embattled crypto token has struggled since breaking below significant support ten days ago. LUNC traded for $0.00006426 at the time of writing, with the price finding it difficult to regain its upward momentum.
