Pi Network Sets May 19 Deadline for Improved Protocol 23 Migration
  • Pi Network extended the Protocol 23.0 deadline to May 19 for improved node migration work.
  • Protocol 23.0 upgrade targets better database performance after full node migration ends.
  • Pi App Studio now converts Claude Code and Codex apps into Pi-native apps within minutes.

Pi Network has moved its Protocol 23.0 node upgrade deadline from May 15 to May 19, 2026. The extension follows an improved release designed to strengthen node database performance after migration while keeping validators synced.

The Pi Core Team announced the new deadline after issuing a revised Protocol 23.0 upgrade. The earlier deadline was May 15. Operators now have until May 19 to complete the required migration.

Pi Network Upgrade Targets Node Performance

The extension was linked to the improved version of the upgrade. The update focuses on database performance after migration. It gives node operators more time to install the better release instead of using the earlier version.

The team framed the move as a quality-focused decision. It did not cite any failure in Pi Network infrastructure or any problem with the upgrade process.

Protocol 23.0 remains a major step for Pi Network. The upgrade is tied to smart contract activation and mainnet development. It follows earlier protocol milestones, including versions 19.1 through 22.1.

The provided update states that Protocol 23.0 is built on Stellar Core v23.0.1. That makes the rollout important for core network operations. It also places more attention on proper node migration.

The main technical change is linked to the node database after migration. Nodes using the improved release are designed to operate more efficiently after the Protocol 23.0 upgrade. This matters for operators running several nodes or systems that need high uptime.

Pi Network Nears Final Migration Deadline

The deadline extension gives operators four extra days. However, May 19 remains the final date. The added time is meant to support a smoother shift to the improved version.

Pi Network is also advancing its app development tools during the same period. Pi App Studio now converts AI-generated apps from Claude Code and Codex into Pi-native apps within minutes.

That development is separate from the node upgrade but still connected to ecosystem growth. Protocol 23.0 focuses on infrastructure. Pi App Studio focuses on application creation inside the network.

Pi Network is advancing on two fronts, covering core infrastructure and developer tools. Node operators could move to the revised protocol release. However, developers could use Pi App Studio to bring AI-created apps into the Pi ecosystem.

The Protocol 23.0 migration remains the main focus. According to reports, node operators must complete the upgrade before the May 19 deadline. The revised release is now available for the process.
