Ripple has Partnered with DoraHacks to organize an online hackathon to support innovative projects. The exercise aims to get developers from diverse backgrounds to explore creative ideas and transition from centralized systems to blockchain technology.
They slated the Summer XRPL online hackathon for June 5 to June July 30, 2023. The total prize pool for the hackathon is $60,000. That will allow participating projects to win up to $10,000 to support their project’s development. They will also engage with the Ripple team for other kinds of support besides funding.
Ripple’s partner, DoraHacks, encourages participants to explore the various opportunities on its platform even after the hackathon. It encouraged them to apply for other programs on its platform that would enhance the development of their projects.
DoraHacks has created a micro-community for participating in projects where they can interact with one another. Registered participants can join the interaction via the Ideas Board section of the platform. According to DoraHacks, the Ideas Board is an avenue for tips, idea sharing, team formation, advice, and feedback.
The hackathon organizers said the choice of XRPL (XRP Ledger) as the platform for the exercise was based on the platform’s reliability. In addition, XRPL’s low cost and carbon neutrality make the blockchain suitable for business.
DoraHacks claimed that XRPL’s impressive track record and vibrant community influenced its preference for the platform. It noted that the XRP community is full of various companies and organizations dedicated to contributing and proposing new features that enhance the Ledger.
The hackathon is in three categories; Finance Track, Tokenization Track, and Hooks Track. Each has up to five winners classified in first, second, and third positions in addition to two honorary mentions.
Every project that makes it to the winners’ category will earn a specified amount of XRP tokens as a reward. The top winners from each category will have a 30-minute virtual meeting with Ripple devRel to discuss the winning project.
