  • Axie Infinity announces the Season 0 update along with the third phase of its Origin launch.
  • The main additions in the update are NFT runes and charms and changes to SLP.
  • Axie Infinity servers will be offline for at least seven hours.

Axie Infinity announced the launch of its new season, Origin Season 0, in a recent Twitter post. The end of the previous testing phase two has concluded, thus introducing the new testing phase three.

As mentioned in the announcement by Axie Infinity, the main additions are that NFT runes and charms are introduced to the game, along with Smooth Love Potion (SLP), Axie’s in-game utility token, being added to Origin’s ranked gameplay mode. Additionally, changes, improvements, and balances have been made.

The transition has already begun. In fact, at the time of writing, Axie Infinity announced that its servers were offline for scheduled maintenance.

“Axie Infinity servers are currently offline for scheduled maintenance. The maintenance for the patch will begin in three and a half hours and is expected to last between five-seven hours.”

Axie Infinity’s recent announcement on Twitter marked the end of its phase two.  Axie Infinity is an NFT-based online game developed by Vietnamese game studio Sky Mavis.

Apart from that, during an event, Korea Blockchain Week (KBW), Sky Mavis Co-Founder and Growth Lead Jeffrey Zirlin said that despite a ban on play-to-earn (P2E) games in South Korea, the Korean market is still one of the biggest gaming markets in the world.

Furthermore, Zirlin added that the company is considering exploring ways to enter the Korean market.

We want to double down, For example, Koreans don’t speak much English… So there are actually a lot of barriers to getting the game into the hands of Korean players.
