  • WBT hits a new all-time high of $74.87, beating its previous $64.11 record.
  • Whitechain is moving from Layer 1 to an Ethereum Layer 2 built with the OP Stack.
  • WBT is fully unlocked, while WhiteBIT’s buyback-and-burn program remains active.

WhiteBIT’s token WBT has hit a new all-time high of $74,87, beating its previous record of $64.11 set in December 2025. The rise comes as new developments emerge across Whitechain and the wider W Group, four years after WBT launched.

These developments include Whitechain’s plan to move from its own Layer 1 blockchain to an Ethereum Layer 2 built with the OP Stack, as well as Spyker’s unveiling of the C8 Preliator XXV.

WBT Sets a New Price Record

WBT has been among the top-performing coins in the market over the past few days. It boasts a weekly gain of 34%, according to CoinMarketCap data. It also boasts an impressive yearly performance of 72%.

The new high marks another milestone for WBT four years after its launch. WBT has also become available on more major exchanges. In March 2026, Kraken added WBT/USD and WBT/EUR trading pairs, giving the token another established market for trading and liquidity.

Whitechain Is Moving to Ethereum Layer 2

One of the biggest developments for WBT holders is Whitechain’s move to Ethereum Layer 2. Whitechain is moving from its own Layer 1 blockchain to a Layer 2 network built with the OP Stack. Its public Sepolia testnet is already live, with the mainnet planned for later in 2026.

This move will connect Whitechain more closely to the Ethereum ecosystem, rather than operating as a separate Layer 1. WBT will remain the network’s gas token after the upgrade. No new replacement token is planned, and WBT’s supply and tokenomics will stay the same.

This means WBT will remain useful across both the WhiteBIT exchange ecosystem and Whitechain’s blockchain.

WBT’s Supply Is Entering a New Phase

Notably, WBT’s supply situation has changed in 2026. The token is now fully unlocked, meaning scheduled token releases are no longer a major factor.

At the same time, WhiteBIT’s buyback-and-burn program is still active. The exchange says it uses 33% of trading-fee income and 5% of income from other exchange activities to fund the program.

The goal is to gradually reduce WBT’s total supply to 200 million tokens. This means WBT no longer has scheduled unlocks, while its buyback-and-burn program continues to reduce the supply. The long-term impact of these changes may be more important than the token’s recent price rise.

Utility Beyond Price

On WhiteBIT, WBT gives users lower trading fees, referral rewards, staking and other rewards, and access to Launchpad activities for eligible users.

On Whitechain, WBT is used to pay for blockchain transactions. This is expected to continue after Whitechain moves to Ethereum Layer 2.

Ultimately, WBT’s new all-time high arrives four years after launch, as its supply profile changes, its utility expands, and the blockchain infrastructure supporting the token prepares for its next stage
