Why Hyperliquid $HYPE is Surging Today?
  • Hyperliquid $HYPE surged more than 4%, with $448.44 million in trading volume.
  • ETF filings from Bitwise and Grayscale, along with whale accumulation, fueled strong $HYPE momentum.
  • The HIP-4 mainnnet rollout in 2026 is expected to boost institutional inflows and HYPE adoption.

On April 14, 2026, Hyperliquid’s native token $HYPE surged to $44.38. Whale accumulation and a spot HYPE ETF are emerging as major catalysts as Bitwise, Grayscale, and 21Shares have filed and amended their applications with the SEC. Strong on-chain metrics, especially HIP 3 commodity perpetuals, continue to drive protocol revenue and token utility, fueling renewed bullish sentiment.

Hyperliquid $HYPE Surges

According to CoinMarketCap data, the $HYPE token surged to $44.38 at press time, posting a strong 4.61% gain over the past 24 hours. The price traded between a low of $41.86 and a high of $45.20, extending recent momentum and testing levels not seen in several months.

This brings HYPE’s market capitalization to $11.37B with a circulating supply of 255.75M HYPE out of a total supply of 956M HYPE. The fully diluted valuation stands at $43.34 billion, while the trading volume reached $453.87M. $HYPE token price remains below its all-time high of $59.39 set on September 18, 2025.

ETF Filings and Whale Buys Drive HYPE Rally

The strongest catalyst is the advancing U.S. spot HYPE ETF filings. For instance, Bitwise has amended its filing for the BHYP ETF, proposing a 0.67% fee and adding major market makers Wintermute and Flowdesk as trading partners. The filing also suggests staking HYPE, with around 85% of rewards potentially passed through to ETF holders.

Grayscale has filed an S-1 for its GHYP ETF, while 21Shares has also submitted its own S-1 for a Hyperliquid ETF, joining the race to offer institutional exposure to decentralized perpetuals trading. A European HYPE ETP is already live, adding further legitimacy.

Meanwhile, institutional and whale activity added further momentum, as BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes purchased an additional 26,022 HYPE tokens worth about $1.1M, marking his first major buy in nearly three months.

What’s Next for $HYPE Token?

Priority fee burns could accelerate deflationary pressure as trading volumes rise, permanently removing HYPE from circulation during peak activity. HIP-4 mainnet rollout is expected mid-2026, introducing outcome contracts and prediction markets that expand beyond perps into event-based trading and short-term binaries.

Upcoming token unlocks in April 2026 could add temporary supply, yet strong daily buybacks and sustained revenue are positioned to absorb the flow. ETF approvals would open regulated institutional channels, driving fresh capital inflows and staking rewards for holders.

Arthur Hayes also targets a potential $150 price by August 2026 if annualized revenue scales further through new markets and ecosystem expansion. Therefore, in the long term, Hyperliquid’s leadership in decentralized perpetuals trading and its growing convergence with traditional finance through commodity markets could position HYPE for sustained growth as on-chain derivatives continue to mature.
