Why is Injective (INJ) Price Surging Today?
  • Injective (INJ) has surged more than 30% following a rare development in its ecosystem.
  • A switch to native USDC, backed by governance proposals, is boosting Intective’s price.
  • The switch opened the door for cross-chain USDC transfer across more than 20 blockchains.

Injective (INJ), the native crypto of the high-performance, layer-1 blockchain specifically designed for decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, surged 30% in the early hours on Wednesday. The latest rally is a continuation of an upward movement that has seen the cryptocurrency gain over 125% since the beginning of April.

TradingView’s data show that INJ has broken above a significant bearish trendline on the weekly chart, suggesting a potential turnaround in the cryptocurrency’s fortunes. In the meantime, crypto users are curious about the sudden change in narrative and the main reason for Wednesday’s price surge.

A Rare Innovation in Crypto

According to reports, INJ’s latest price surge is the fallout from an innovation that is rare in the cryptocurrency ecosystem. All ecosystem applications on the layer-1 blockchain are switching to native USDC, backed by governance proposals and a new conversion widget for users holding bridged stablecoins.

The latest move will effectively phase out bridged assets, such as USDT and USDCnb, that have served as the default trading pairs. Although the migration took full effect this Wednesday, its foundation was laid on May 7, 2026, when native USDC and Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) went live on the Injective mainnet.

INJ’s price movement reflected this implementation by breaking above significant resistance, in a move that has continued as of the time of writing, with the cryptocurrency trading at $5.83, according to TradingView’s data.

The Effect of Injective’s Switch to USDC

The USDC integration on Injective opened the door for cross-chain USDC transfer across more than 20 blockchains. Meanwhile, the proposal backing the migration tallied 28.5% Yes votes at the time of writing, with 0% No votes. 74.2% of Injective community members have abstained from voting. However, the proposal is predicted to pass despite low overall voter turnout.

In the meantime, Injective ecosystem users still holding USDT and USDCnb can swap their tokens through a straightforward interface, enabling a seamless transition.

Bringing the Injective ecosystem onto a unified stablecoin platform reduces friction for traders. It eliminates the stress of checking which stablecoin a particular stablecoin uses and improves capital efficiency, considering liquidity will no longer be split between multiple stablecoin variants competing for the same role.
