In a Twitter post from earlier today, American politician and former military officer Warren Davidson claimed XRP holders were extremely defensive about Ripple’s work on Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC).

Davidson has always been vocal about his dislike of CBDCs, asserting that CBDCs pose a serious threat to all digital assets. With regard to the current outrage from XRP supporters, Davidson explained that he had only brought up what was already discussed by Judge Analisa Torres in her recent verdict, saying:

“I answered a question about the Torres decision by pointing out XRP was finally recognized as not a security, but that some of Ripple’s activity was deemed an investment contract by the judge because, in pitches to institutional investors, Ripple promised to do x,y,z.”

The army ranger added that he shared his concerns about Ripple’s involvement in developing CBDCs because they were part of Ripple’s pitches. “Now, given that I am working to criminalize CBDC, rational people would understand I don’t want anyone to work on CBDC – not Satoshi, not Consensys, not the Fed, not even my mom.”

Davidson further opened up the discussion to his followers, asking them what they thought of Ripple’s work on CBDCs. The XRP army, however, responded with questions about Ethereum. “How come you didn’t target ETH for their work on CBDC but went after Ripple?” asked a crypto researcher who goes by the name Ripple Van Winkle.

XRP YouTuber Moon Lambo added to the conversation by saying that Davidson’s logic was unreasonable. “You want to criminalize technology rather than make sure it’s used properly. It’s no wonder so many people disagree with you,” said the analyst. Moon Lambo asserted that if CBDC was open source and Congress made sure it didn’t reduce freedom, there wouldn’t be anything to be concerned about.

Another follower asked Davidson to focus his attention on a regulatory framework to protect everyone. “Tech is neither good nor bad in itself but can be used for both,” said the pro-XRP investor. “Singling one project out is not fair. Especially when you continue to ignore the call for identities of the creators of BTC and the investigations around ETH, ETHGate corruption.”
