  • Binance whale XRP outflows climbed to 81% as retail participation dropped to 18%.
  • Whale dominance across CEXs stood at 72%, about 9% lower than Binance.
  • XRP volatility drops to 0.34, marking a three-month low after June’s sharp swings

Large XRP holders have taken control of withdrawal activity on Binance, with new data showing that whale-sized transfers account for a larger share of exchange outflows than those made by smaller investors.

The data records a shift in the pattern of XRP movements on the exchange, even as the token’s price remains near multi-month lows and market volatility continues to ease. At the same time, data from centralized exchanges as a whole show a different record, indicating that Binance is experiencing a different activity pattern compared with the broader market.

XRP Whales Dominate Binance XRP Outflows

According to CryptoQuant data, Binance’s seven-day moving average for XRP whale outflow dominance surged to around 81% on August 3. The indicator level was the same as it had been on June 11, when it was at 81.3%, but the second time of the year.

Retail involvement fell to 18%, in line with the previous reading on 11 June. The figures indicate that roughly four out of every five XRP outflows from Binance were associated with whale-sized transfers, while retail investors represented less than one-fifth of the activity.

Broader Exchange Activity Shows Different Trend

While Binance recorded an increase in whale participation, data from other centralized exchanges showed a more even distribution.

On August 3, whale dominance across all centralized exchanges was 72%, about 9% points below Binance’s reading. Retail activity reached 27%, also 9% points higher than the level recorded on Binance.

The broader market also changed compared with July 2. During that period, whale dominance across centralized exchanges declined from 79% to 72%, while retail participation increased from 20% to 27%.

Lower Volatility Accompanies Whale Activity

Separate Binance data shows XRP’s 30-day realized volatility has fallen to around 0.34, its lowest level in three months, while the cryptocurrency has traded near $1.07.

The decline follows the heightened price fluctuations observed in June and reflects a period of more subdued daily price movements. The lower volatility suggests reduced short-term speculative activity and a relatively balanced market between buyers and sellers.
