Strategy Resumes Buying, Saylor Signals More Ahead

Strategy purchased 4,603 BTC between August 24-30 at a cost of $369.7 million, averaging $80,318 per coin, bringing total holdings to 845,050 BTC with a total cost basis of $63.73 billion. The company also repurchased 1.577 million STRC shares for $151.8 million and added roughly $29 million in cash.

Separately, Strategy sent a formal letter opposing MSCI’s proposal to exclude “non-operating companies” from global indexes, calling it discriminatory and noting the firm employs 1,500 people worldwide and reports Bitcoin as an operating segment.

Hyperliquid Advances US Market Entry

Hyperliquid Labs is in advanced talks with Payward, Kraken’s parent company, to offer perpetual contract trading to US users through Payward’s exchange Bitnomial, according to people familiar with the matter. The move follows Trump’s earlier comments that his administration is working to bring Hyperliquid into the US market.

An address that accumulated 488,600 HYPE through FalconX five months ago at roughly $35 staked the position after the US market news broke, now sitting on $23.73 million in unrealized gains.

Injective Hit by Oracle Exploit

Injective was suspended for approximately four hours after an attacker exploited a deactivated but still-registered oracle, creating 299 markets pointing to it and triggering a flawed “no-price refund” mechanism to extract roughly 2x payouts, netting about $4.9 million in ETH.

A disclosure from an on-chain researcher showed Injective’s official account continued posting marketing content without acknowledging the pause, and that the chain’s core code being private meant the vulnerability was found through its public SDK rather than by security researchers or auditors.

BitMine Extends ETH Buying Streak to 65 Weeks

BitMine added 53,501 ETH last week, marking its 65th consecutive week of purchases, bringing total holdings to 5,901,112 ETH, about 4.9% of total supply. The company’s combined crypto, cash, and investment assets now total roughly $15.6 billion, with staked ETH generating an estimated $335 million in annualized income.

Anthropic Signs Major Cloud Deal

Anthropic reached a $35 billion cloud computing agreement with Nvidia-backed Lambda, with the underlying data center being built by Bitcoin miner Hut 8 in Texas under a separate Nvidia lease arrangement. The SEC has intensified scrutiny of special purpose vehicles marketing exposure to private AI companies, including Anthropic and SpaceX, requiring registered advisers to prove they actually hold the shares they claim.

Robinhood Chain Activity Shifts to Meme Coins

Robinhood Chain set a record single-day DEX trading volume of $989 million, with total value locked surpassing $700 million, up nearly 100% month-over-month. Despite launching in July as a platform for tokenized stocks, activity has shifted decisively toward meme coin issuance, with launchpad platform Pons seeing its market cap grow from $20 million to over $200 million.

Macro and Regulatory Developments

The Bank of England’s Andrew Bailey warned G20 officials that frontier AI models could pose systemic risks to global financial stability through more sophisticated cyberattacks and concentrated dependence on third-party tech providers.

Bitfinex said Bitcoin’s August rally was driven primarily by spot buying rather than leverage, with US spot Bitcoin ETFs posting nearly $1 billion in net inflows last week despite a pullback following Fed Chair Warsh’s hawkish Jackson Hole remarks.
