Bitcoin traded near $79,542, down 1.5% over the past 24 hours though still up 2.5% for the week. Ethereum fell 2.1% to $2,451, roughly flat weekly. XRP dropped 3.3% to $1.40, while Solana eased 1.8% to $101.89. BNB held near $721.90. Total crypto market capitalization stood at $2.77 trillion, down 1.3% over the past day, with 24-hour trading volume at $94.62 billion.

Lil’ Shrub surged 107.0% to lead trending searches, followed by Dash, up 36.3%, and Pons, down 2%. A Meme Coin topped gainers with a staggering 39,435.6% jump, while BULLA added 93.0%, reflecting continued speculative churn in micro-cap tokens even as majors slipped.

Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs Extend Inflow Streaks

Bitcoin spot ETFs recorded $175 million in net inflows, marking a third consecutive day of gains, led by BlackRock’s IBIT at $117 million, pushing its historical total past $64 billion. Fidelity’s FBTC added $57.2 million. Total Bitcoin ETF net assets now stand at $101.25 billion, representing 6.33% of Bitcoin’s total market cap.

Ethereum spot ETFs added $26.46 million, led by BlackRock’s ETHA at $57.79 million and its staked ETH fund ETHB at $16.44 million. HYPE spot ETFs saw $10.52 million in inflows, entirely from Bitwise’s BHYP, bringing its historical total to $164 million.

SLINK Token Frenzy Triggered by Fake Musk-Adjacent Post

A post containing the SLINK contract address, shared from Shivon Zilis’ account after it was reportedly compromised, drew a reply from Elon Musk that briefly pushed the token’s market cap to around $80 million before it collapsed over 97% to roughly $2 million. 

More than 30 insider wallets that bought early and exited quickly profited over $4.7 million combined, with returns exceeding 1200x, while at least four other traders lost a combined $807,000 chasing the spike. One unrelated trader separately lost $907,000 across two same-day trades in MEME and SLINK.

OpenAI’s Astra Rollout Widens Amid Benchmark Scrutiny

OpenAI said GPT-6 Astra is now available to all ChatGPT Pro, Enterprise, and Business Premium users, as well as via API, with Plus and Business tiers to follow within days. Separately, Fortune reported OpenAI repeatedly adjusted Astra’s evaluation data before and after release, including revising its internal hallucination rate between 4.2% and 2% multiple times, while a competing Anthropic model’s FrontierMath score also fluctuated during the same window.

Anthropic IPO Timeline Firms Up

Anthropic is expected to publicly release its IPO prospectus in late September, with roadshow and promotional activity potentially starting mid-October, according to a Cailianshe report.

Institutional and Whale Activity

Morgan Stanley’s MSBT Bitcoin ETF added 94.56 BTC (about $7.54 million), bringing its four-day total to 355.33 BTC. A whale bought another 343,000 HYPE ($29.09 million), lifting total holdings to 3.24 million HYPE, fully staked. Wintermute and Galaxy Digital together hold roughly $126.2 million in Hyperliquid shorts, with combined 30-day losses exceeding $21 million.

Market-Wide Liquidations and Protocol Wind-Downs

Total crypto contract liquidations reached $564 million over 24 hours Thursday, with longs and shorts both hit hard at $301 million and $263 million respectively. Cross-chain protocol Router Protocol announced it will fully shut down by September 30, burning its remaining 303 million ROUTE treasury tokens. Stargate said its V1 liquidity pools will cease operations December 15, with a temporary two-week withdrawal pause to follow shortly.

Robinhood Chain Clarifies Delay, Not Downtime

Arbitrum said Robinhood Chain did not experience downtime, but batch publishing was briefly delayed due to Layer 1 blob market conditions, with user-initiated transactions unaffected. Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev separately argued tokenization will extend access to high-quality US financial assets globally, calling traditional market infrastructure outdated for 24/7, programmable finance.
