On Wednesday, A non-fungible token (NFT) called ‘A Great Story’ was sold for 119.2 ETH ($185,000) which gives the buyer to have a beer date with the legendary Bill Murray.

‘A Great Story’ NFT is the foundation of the entire ‘Bill Murray 1000 collection’ and the first-ever biography on the blockchain created by David Grizzle, the artist behind Bill Murray’s collection. The charity auction was conducted in The Shack in partnership with Coinbase, and was sold to the user Brant Boersma.

The user Boersma will have a beer date with Bill Murray, will have the original Bill Murray 1000 NFT, and a painting of Boersma having a beer with Bill Murray. David Grizzle will also be attending to paint the picture of the ‘beer’ meeting.

Murray’s team will donate the proceeds from the sale to Chive Charities, a non-profit that serves families of veterans and first responders.

According to Grizzle:

I wasn’t sure what to think as I’m generally new to NFTs. I launched some of my collections on OpenSea earlier this year so everything that’s happening right now is just amazing.

Among the Bill Murray 1000, only 82 NFTs have been released with the cheapest edition listed at 11 ETH.

Bill Murray is one of the legendary actors, known for his role in Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day. Murray’s performance in Sofia Coppola’s Lost in Transition, earned him a Golden Globe. While Murray doesn’t appear to be much of a technologist, the actor owns NFTs from top collections including CryptoPunks, Deadfellas, and LinksDAO.
