  • AMC CEO says it neither authorised nor endorsed Robinhood’s tokenized product linked to its shares.
  • MEME paired with the tokenized AMC product and rose more than 3,100-fold during its first day.
  • Lookonchain tracked a $2,972 purchase valued at over $2.1 million, but most gains were unrealized.

AMC Entertainment’s dispute with Robinhood has moved beyond a debate about tokenized shares. Crypto traders turned the clash into a meme, pushing a token labeled “MEME” on Robinhood Chain sharply higher within hours.

The episode brought MEME and AMC into the same trading pair on Robinhood Chain. Community posts celebrated early winners, questioned available liquidity, and debated whether activity reached AMC’s listed shares.

The listed share and the token are separate instruments, even though both reference AMC Entertainment and use the same ticker.

AMC Challenges Robinhood’s Stock Token

AMC Chief Executive Adam Aron said the cinema group did not approve Robinhood’s tokenized product linked to AMC stock. He questioned its legal status and asked outside securities counsel to examine the offering.

Aron called the product “contemptible” and “outrageous.” Robinhood Chief Executive Vlad Tenev asked what concerned Aron. The exchange quickly attracted responses from stock traders and crypto accounts.

Robinhood’s regulatory filing describes stock tokens as debt securities issued by Robinhood Assets. They provide economic exposure to referenced securities but grant no legal or beneficial rights against the underlying companies.

Token holders receive price exposure through Robinhood’s structure, while registered shareholders retain direct rights connected to AMC.

The products are not registered under U.S. securities laws and face restrictions in several countries, including the United States.

Meme Narrative Drives Trading Surge on Robinhood Chain

Analyst 0xSammy described the dispute as “absolute Cinema” and noted a new interpretation of AMC. Traders recast the ticker as “A Meme Coin,” linking the company dispute with meme trading.

MEME then traded against Robinhood’s tokenized AMC product through a MEME/AMC liquidity pool. This structure differs from common meme pairs that use stablecoins or major crypto assets.

Community accounts described the pairing as a stock-meme format because its liquidity used the tokenized equity product instead of stablecoins.

Analyst Jussy called MEME the “main character” on Robinhood Chain and presented the move as a community-driven narrative. The post cited roughly 4,000 holders, $116 million in volume, and a valuation between $110 million and $135 million.

One Wallet Posts a 713-Fold Paper Gain

On-chain tracker Lookonchain identified a wallet created 21 days before the trade. The address had reportedly traded only eight tokens before buying MEME.

The wallet spent about $2,972 for 16.11 million MEME tokens. Within 12 hours, the position carried a reported value above $2.1 million, representing a 713-fold return on paper. The trader sold 750,000 tokens for approximately $85,300 and retained 15.36 million MEME.

Most of the gain was unrealized. Its final value depends on available buyers, market depth, execution prices, and the token’s price during future sales.

Community Debate Reaches AMC Shares

In a later post, analyst Jussy said five wallets showed paper gains above $1 million, with total liquidity near $7 million, and questioned whether holders could realize those values.

Some traders speculated that activity in the MEME/AMC pool could influence AMC’s stock price, but evidence remains inconclusive. Analyst 0xSammy noted that tokenized AMC supply represented only a small fraction of the company’s public float, limiting its potential market impact.

AMC shares rose in premarket trading, but the timing alone does not establish a direct link to token activity. Analysts said the move could reflect broader market factors rather than spillover from the meme-driven trading on Robinhood Chain.
