  • In June 2023, Arbitrum faced a brief halt that resulted from a bug in its sequencer.

Arbitrum, Ethereum’s scaling solution, has reportedly faced a “temporary outage” that lasted more than 60 minutes as an aftermath of the network traffic. As updated by the platform, the issue has been resolved, with the operations brought back to “normal.”

According to Arbitrum’s status update, on December 15, at 10.29 a.m. (ET), the Arbitrum One Sequencer and Feed stalled following a “significant surge in network traffic.” After identifying the matter, the Arbitrum team launched an investigation to gather more detailed information. Arbitrum cited, “We will provide a post-mortem as soon as possible.”

While the research progressed, the team confirmed that “a sustained surge of inscriptions triggered the sequencer to stop relaying transactions properly.” Though the issue was resolved shortly, the gas prices were still too high due to the backlog. However, the team guaranteed that it would “normalize” soon.
