Avalanche is moving beyond crypto and into government tech. The UAE’s Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), along with Deca4, have started integrating Avalanche into the digital vault system behind UAE PASS, the country’s national digital ID platform.
This move puts Avalanche into a government system used by millions of people in the UAE. According to TDRA, as of December 2025, UAE PASS has more than 11 million registered users and connects to over 15,000 services. It lets citizens and visitors confirm their identity, sign documents digitally, and request and share official files.
What the Blockchain Is Being Used For
The integration is focused on the UAE PASS Digital Vault, where users can keep and share verified official documents.
Blockchain can create a verifiable record that helps the system check if a document is real and whether it’s been changed. The UAE’s existing UAE Verify system already uses blockchain to store document fingerprints, letting officials and recipients confirm that a document is genuine and unaltered, without putting the actual personal information on-chain.
This is notable because using blockchain doesn’t mean a user’s ID documents are being publicly stored on a blockchain. UAE Verify says the contents and personal info aren’t stored on-chain. Instead, a cryptographic hash is used to prove that a document hasn’t been tampered with.

Why This Matters for Avalanche
For Avalanche, this is bigger than just another corporate blockchain deal. The network is getting involved in infrastructure connected to a national digital ID system, rather than simply providing a platform for tokens or DeFi apps.
It also fits with the UAE’s wider push to build digital infrastructure that can be reused. In July, the World Economic Forum named UAE PASS a global model for digital government, praising its shared national infrastructure approach.
Additionally, the UAE keeps expanding its blockchain-based government services. By January 2026, UAE Verify had issued over 30.7 million Digital Trusted Documents, showing that blockchain-powered document verification is already happening on a big scale.
The latest Avalanche integration therefore provides another example of blockchain technology being used for more than just crypto trading.
In the end, the bigger question for Avalanche is whether this government project can pave the way for more real-world uses.
As blockchain technology becomes more involved in national IDs and public services, networks like Avalanche could increasingly compete for government projects where security and transparency matter much more than market speculation.
