- Bitget’s Protection Fund averaged $351M in July as Bitcoin’s recovery lifted its value.
- The fund reached a monthly high of $365.9M on July 21, backed by 5,500 BTC.
- Bitget CEO says user protection should remain constant despite market changes.
Bitget has revealed that its Protection Fund averaged $351 million in July 2026, staying above the exchange’s original $300 million target as Bitcoin’s price recovered from June’s market drop.
The fund reached a high of $365.9 million on July 21 and a low of $329.8 million on July 1, according to Bitget’s latest report. It stayed above $300 million throughout the month, supported by its 5,500 BTC holdings.
Bitcoin Recovery Boosts Protection Fund
Bitcoin’s recovery in July helped increase the dollar value of Bitget’s BTC-backed Protection Fund. Bitcoin traded between $59,968 and $66,521 during the month. Its price increase helped the fund reach an average value of $351 million.
Bitget said the fund stayed about 17% above its original $300 million target throughout July, even after Bitcoin lost some of its gains near the end of the month. The figures show that changes in Bitcoin’s price can directly affect the dollar value of crypto-based reserves.
Bitget Keeps $300M Protection Fund
The Protection Fund was launched in 2022 to give users extra protection during major market events. The exchange regularly reports the fund’s value so users can see how much is held in reserve as market conditions change.
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said, “Market direction may change, but user protection shouldn’t”. She said keeping large reserves onchain and regularly sharing their value helps improve transparency and build user trust.
The Protection Fund works alongside Bitget’s Proof of Reserves (PoR) system. Bitget says its reserves are higher than the value of users’ assets across major holdings.
The two systems help protect users and manage risk. Proof of Reserves shows that user assets are backed by reserves, while the Protection Fund provides extra funds for unexpected or serious events.
Bitget Expands Beyond Crypto
Bitget is also expanding its Universal Exchange (UEX) beyond traditional crypto trading. The platform now offers access to crypto, tokenized stocks, commodities, and other financial markets in one place.
As Bitget adds more types of assets, the exchange says clear reserve reporting and strong security measures will remain important for protecting users.
