Bitget Media Session Explores the Frontier of Real-World Asset Tokenization, Pre-IPO Access, and Regulatory Compliance Press Release

DUBAI, UAE – Bitget, the world’s leading cryptocurrency exchange and Web3 company, recently hosted an exclusive media session featuringChief Executive Officer Gracy Chen and Chief Legal Officer Hon Ng. The executive panel delved into the rapid expansion of Real-World Assets (RWAs), the mechanics of tokenized pre-IPO stock access, and the evolving global legal frameworks governing these financial instruments. Prominent cryptocurrency media outlet Coin Edition was a featured participant, engaging directly with leadership on the long-term structural implications of on-chain liquidity.

“Brokering the Unbrokered”: Flattening Global Financial Access

Opening the session, CEO Gracy Chen challenged the mainstream narrative surrounding tokenization, asserting that it should not be viewed simply as a “crypto story,” but rather as a profound upgrade to financial market infrastructure.

Chen highlighted the severe structural barriers faced by retail investors outside Western markets—particularly in Southeast Asia and East Asia—when attempting to access premium financial instruments like U.S. Treasuries, equities, or pre-IPO tech exposures. These barriers include prohibitive minimum capital requirements (often scaling from $1,000 to upwards of $200,000) and friction-heavy intermediary chains that inflate transaction and cross-border currency conversion fees.

“People used to say crypto was about banking the unbanked. I think the shift now is toward brokering the unbrokered,” Chen stated. “By replacing legacy clearing chains with instant, fractionalized blockchain settlement, tokenization is reaching an inflection point that can permanently flatten global financial access.”

Exponential Growth and Structural Integrity in RWAs

Bitget shared concrete metrics proving that the demand for tokenized traditional assets is experiencing exponential growth:

  • Tokenized Gold: Driven partly by macroeconomic tensions, gold trading volume on Bitget (encompassing spot tokens like Tether Gold [XAUT] alongside CFD products) reached $90.7 billion in Q1 2026, stabilizing between $60 billion and $80 billion in subsequent months.
  • Tokenized Equities: The broader market for tokenized equities expanded nearly 30-fold year-over-year, climbing from $32 million at the start of 2025 to nearly $1 billion by early 2026.
  • Platform Volume: On May 18, 2026, tokenized traditional assets accounted for approximately 40% of Bitget’s total trading volume, less than a year after the platform began introducing these asset classes.

Addressing product integrity, Chen emphasized that Bitget prefers SPV-backed exposure—where underlying traditional financial assets are held inside independent Special Purpose Vehicles (via partners like xStocks). This ensures assets are completely ring-fenced from platform risk, establishing them as genuine RWAs.

The “10% Vision” by 2030

Chen disclosed details of a high-level meeting in early May with BlackRock Chief Operating Officer Rob Goldstein in New York, where she outlined her “10% Vision.” Under this thesis, Chen projects that 10% of all global financial assets will exist in tokenized form by 2030. While tokenized money market funds and private credit have reached 0.5% to 1% penetration in their respective fields, tokenized equities currently occupy less than 0.01% of a massive $125 trillion market. Chen anticipates tokenized equities will scale to match the 0.5% penetration of U.S. Treasuries, laying the groundwork for the broader 2030 macro target as institutional heavyweights like the NYSE and Nasdaq actively experiment with the tech.

Democratizing Pre-IPO Allocation: The SpaceX Case Study

The session focused heavily on tokenized pre-IPO assets, using Bitget’s recently launched IPO Prime product as a prime example. While traditional private equity is historically illiquid and locked behind institutional walls, Bitget’s tokenized pre-IPO products allow users to gain structured economic exposure to companies like SpaceX starting from just 100 USDT.

The platform reported massive retail demand:

  • The first round of the pre-SpaceX product was three times oversubscribed, securing a $60 million allocation against overwhelming user commitments. The asset, which launched around a purchase price of $650, traded above $900 within a month.
  • The second round, which introduced a lock-up period to incentivize long-term venture-style holding, saw even higher demand, concluding at five times oversubscribed.

Navigating the Global Regulatory Matrix

Chief Legal Officer Hon Ng brought over two decades of legal expertise to the panel, emphasizing that the definition of a security is undergoing a dynamic, globally fragmented shift. Ng noted that the market anticipates an upcoming policy announcement from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regarding RWAs, though Bitget maintains strict compliance by entirely excluding U.S. users from these products at present.

Ng mapped out the progressive regulatory stances of key jurisdictions:

  • El Salvador: Leading the frontier by formally classifying tokenized stocks as digital assets rather than traditional securities under Bitget’s localized license.
  • European Union: Utilizing dedicated pilot programs for RWAs sitting alongside the landmark MiCA framework.
  • UAE (ADGM & VARA): Actively pushing forward to establish institutional-grade RWA frameworks.
  • Hong Kong & Singapore: Dedicating significant regulatory resources to capture market share as premier RWA hubs.

“When people ask why someone should buy a token if they can just buy the stock, the simple answer is that the vast majority of the world cannot,” Ng remarked, citing World Bank data showing that 1.4 billion adults lack basic financial infrastructure. “RWAs are not just dressed-up stock. The contractual, back-to-back structures we build open doors for an entirely new global demographic.”

Media Dialogue: Intrinsic Value and Market Short-Termism

During a rigorous Q&A segment, the Chief Editor of Coin Edition raised a pivotal philosophical question regarding whether global, fractionated on-chain liquidity might cause markets to value an asset’s “liquidity utility” over its intrinsic value, thereby distorting capital formation.

Chen agreed that liquidity utility is increasingly influential, citing a recent market event involving the AI chip company CBRS. On May 14, 2026, while the Nasdaq was still conducting its opening IPO auction, perpetual trading on Bitget and Hyperliquid successfully drove ahead-of-market price discovery, climbing from $290 to $380 before Wall Street officially opened trading at $350.

Responding to Coin Edition’s second inquiry regarding whether hyper-liquid pre-IPO tokens risk introducing public-market short-termism into private tech innovation, Chen and Ng maintained that the access benefits outweigh the risks. They underscored that robust investor education, distinct SPV backing, and structural mechanisms like lock-up periods ensure a balanced ecosystem that protects both retail capital and private market integrity.
