  • Bitget’s Protection Fund averaged $382M in August as Bitcoin’s recovery lifted its reserves.
  • The fund stayed above Bitget’s $300M commitment throughout August, reaching $441.5M at its peak.
  • Bitcoin’s rally helped push the fund’s value to about $432M by the end of the month.

Bitget’s Protection Fund recorded an average valuation of $382 million in August 2026. Bitcoin’s recovery in the second half of the month helped push the fund well above its $300 million commitment.

Notably, the fund peaked at $441.5 million on August 27 and fell to a low of $345.3 million on August 1. It stayed above $300 million throughout the month.

Bitcoin Rally Boosts Protection Fund

In August, Bitcoin traded between $62,773 and $80,268, rising more than 25%, ending August at $78,553. Since much of the Protection Fund is held in Bitcoin, the price increase raised the value of the fund’s reserves. The fund ended the month at about $432 million.

Bitget said around 5,500 BTC supports the Protection Fund.

Fund Protects Users During Extreme Events

For context, Bitget created its Protection Fund in 2022 to help protect users during troubling market events. The exchange regularly shares the fund’s value so users can see how its reserves change with the crypto market.

Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said strong market conditions do not remove the need for protection.

“Strong markets don’t reduce the need for strong safeguards,” Chen said, adding that as Bitget grows, it must continue to focus on protecting users and being transparent. She also said Bitget’s onchain reserves and public reports help build trust with users.

Protection Fund Works With Proof of Reserves

It is worth mentioning that Bitget’s Protection Fund is separate from its Proof of Reserves (PoR) system. PoR demonstrates that Bitget holds sufficient reserves to cover user assets. Meanwhile, the Protection Fund is an extra pool to help users during unexpected events.

Both systems are part of Bitget’s risk-management strategy, and the exchange has also expanded its PoR checks to cover more than 20 major assets.

Bitget Expands Beyond Crypto

The latest Protection Fund data comes as Bitget expands its Universal Exchange (UEX) model, which brings different financial markets onto one platform.

Specifically, the platform now includes crypto, tokenized stocks, ETFs, commodities, foreign exchange, and precious metals. Bitget boasts more than 125 million users and offers access to over 2 million crypto tokens and more than 500 tokenized stocks.

As Bitget expands into more markets, keeping reserves transparent and providing extra protection for users has become an important part of its strategy.
