Cardano Launches Valentine Upgrade
  • Input Output reported Cardano’s Valentine launch of the new cryptographic primitives.
  • Cardano upgraded the network with the intention of bringing greater interoperability.
  • The upgrade would allow developers to create cross-chain DApps that are secure, reliable and cost-effective.

The peer-to-peer research and development company, Input Output announced on February 15, the launch of the public blockchain platform Cardano’s Valentine (SECP) upgrade, the new cryptographic primitives, with the key intention to bring “greater interoperability and secure cross-chain DApp development.

Notably, Input Output, along with conveying the regards of Valentine’s Day, released a string of tweets explaining the various aspects of Cardano’s new launch:

Additionally, the platform also incorporated the article released by Cardano on January 19, in which the exchange elaborates on the purpose and the features of the upgrade, at the time when Cardano was “getting ready for the upgrade”.

Notably, the exchange explains how the new feature “ensures trust and security in blockchain settings,” using different cryptographic methods:

Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) and Schnorr signatures are two popular signature schemes used in blockchain platforms. Bitcoin and Ethereum, among other cryptographic systems, use ECDSA. Schnorr signatures, originally proposed as an alternative to ECDSA, are also used in several blockchain networks, such as Polkadot.

Significantly, Input Output commented that SECP allows developers to create cross-chain DApps that are “secure, reliable, and cost-effective.” Also, the platform informed that interoperability, being the “key” for blockchain growth, Cardano opens a wider range of services in front of the users by enabling them to interact with different blockchains.

Interstingly, according to Cardano’s article, the exchange uses the Edwards-curve Digital Signature Algorithm (EdDSA) with elliptic curve Curve25519 as its base curve, giving a quick signature verification.
