Cardano developers are preparing for the Dijkstra upgrade as the network moves toward a Sept. 1 planning deadline.

Intersect said the upgrade remains on track, with teams now focused on testing, ecosystem readiness and support for alternative node implementations.

Linear Leios Leads First Phase

Dijkstra Phase 1 will introduce Linear Leios and Nested Transactions, with developers targeting code completion in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Linear Leios is designed to increase the number of transactions Cardano can process by adding Endorser Blocks. It will retain the network’s existing Praos security model.

The first phase will also bring updates to PlutusV4, new ways to structure transaction data and changes to protocol settings. These updates will prepare Cardano for Peras, although the feature itself will not be activated during this phase.

Peras Follows in 2027

Developers expect Phase 2 to activate Ouroboros Peras through an intra-era hard fork in the second quarter of 2027.

Intersect has created a tracker for developers and node operators. It will cover testing and upgrade requirements.

The second-quarter target could still move. Further testing and the on-chain voting process may affect when the upgrade goes live.

Cardano’s Van Rossem upgrade received 77.63% support from delegated representatives and 52.7% from stake pool operators. Dijkstra will go through the same community approval process.
