  • Crypto giants discussed crypto-related topics including ETH merge in a podcast.
  • Vitalik Buterin, Brain Armstrong, and Viktor Bunin poured out their crypto thoughts.
  • The discussion stressed the need for more technology to build the future of crypto.

Senior OG Protocol Specialist Viktor Bunin posted a series of tweets that covered relevant talks on decentralization, privacy, and the Ethereum PoS merge. These hot crypto topics were discussed between Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, in Around the block, a podcast by Coinbase.

In the discussion, Buterin stated that the transition to PoS was not immediately apparent. He further explained that even though the idea can be scary due to the unpredictable troubles in the Merge, once these hurdles were identified, it would be easy to deal with these problems.

The discussion also went over the robust and decentralized nature of Ethereum PoS. The leaders say that after the Merge, anyone can spin up an Ethereum validator anywhere in the world with less capital and technical skills. “All you need is a computer with an internet connection.”

Also, according to the thread, Ethereum will continue decentralizing its infrastructure operations, where Proposer-Builder Separation will take away a validator’s ability to express a preference over the contents of the blocks they create. This, reportedly, would make censorship at the block level impossible.

Another key message from the conversation was about the need for scientists and engineers in the decentralized platform. Bunin tweeted that incredible researchers like Buterin do the tough work of pushing the envelope on what’s possible. But it is up to the builders to then “take the baton, commercialize the products, and bring the technology” to millions of users.

Privacy was another topic discussed in the podcast. According to the tech leaders, technological solutions are the best way to tackle privacy issues. However, these technological ideas must enable user privacy while minimizing privacy for criminals.

Furthermore, the discussion stressed the significance of culture and values in the blockchain realm, where crypto leaders need to set and encourage cultural alignment around a set of values.
