Deribit has secured a Broker Dealer Licence from Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA), strengthening its spot trading business. The approval lets Deribit route spot orders through Coinbase Exchange, giving clients access to deeper liquidity and more assets.

Coinbase Liquidity Expands Deribit’s Spot Offering

Deribit already operates spot trading under its VARA Exchange Service licence, which it received in January 2025. However, the new approval adds Coinbase’s centralized orderbook to its execution options.

Consequently, traders could benefit from tighter spreads and improved execution across a wider selection of digital assets. Additionally, Deribit clients can use purchased assets as collateral for derivatives trading, subject to regulatory approval.

The expanded service targets retail, qualified and institutional investors. Besides Coinbase liquidity, Deribit will maintain its internal orderbook for selected assets.

The approval also highlights how Coinbase can integrate Deribit’s derivatives expertise with its liquidity infrastructure. Coinbase acquired Deribit, bringing the established derivatives platform into its broader crypto trading operations.

Moreover, Deribit has operated its global headquarters in Dubai under VARA supervision since early 2025. Significantly, the new license could strengthen Dubai’s position as a regulated hub for institutional crypto trading.
