DogeOS has launched a public testnet that could expand Dogecoin beyond payments and meme-driven trading. The application layer uses a zero-knowledge rollup to support EVM-compatible smart contracts.
Additionally, DOGE will serve as the network’s native token for transaction fees. The new environment gives developers a place to build decentralized applications on Dogecoin.
The project targets several use cases, including trading, lending, stablecoins, prediction markets, and blockchain games. Moreover, DogeOS plans to settle application state back to the Dogecoin network. However, Dogecoin does not currently verify DogeOS zero-knowledge proofs directly.
Developers Begin Testing New Infrastructure
DogeOS currently combines trusted execution environments, validators, and a permissioned sequencer. Bridge state transitions also require valid proofs, validator signatures, and a TEE signer. Consequently, the system still relies on several security components during this testing phase.
DogeOS previously raised $6.9 million in 2025, with Polychain Capital leading the funding round. Additionally, its team proposed a Dogecoin Core upgrade for native ZK-proof verification.
The upgrade has not yet reached implementation. Hence, the testnet represents an important development stage before any mainnet launch.
Meanwhile, DOGE trades around $0.0942, according to Coingecko data. Its price gained 0.08% over 24 hours and 1.90% over seven days. Its market capitalization stands near $14.71 billion.
