The global crypto market cap rose 0.3% to $2.96 trillion over the past 24 hours. Bitcoin traded at $83,849.86, up 0.4% on the day but roughly flat on the week at 0.8%. Ethereum changed hands at $2,695.94, up 0.8% in 24 hours, nearly flat over seven days.
BNB rose 0.9% to $767.90. XRP held steady at $1.50. Solana gained 0.9% to $118.61, up 2.8% over seven days. USDT and USDC both held close to their dollar peg.
Bitcoin briefly broke above $85,000, touching a high of $85,500, after August PCE inflation data came in below expectations. The gains were given back as elevated Treasury yields cooled risk appetite, with BTC settling back around $83,700 during Thursday’s Asian session.

Monad led trending searches, up 20.6% to $0.0325. Backpack followed, up 21.5% to $1.49, and NEAR Protocol rose 8.9% to $5.40. Among top gainers, Escoin surged 135.3% to $0.2925, Agoras: Tau Net climbed 93.3% to $0.7358, and Moonriver rose 90.9% to $2.369.
MetaMask Security Incident Ripples Through Staking
MetaMask disclosed that part of its infrastructure was affected by a security incident, though it found no signs of a direct threat to wallets. Lido said MetaMask Staking (formerly Consensys Staking) is exiting the Ethereum validator nodes it operates as a precautionary measure, with the process expected to complete before October 7.
The Rollup founder recommended proactive measures on restaked ETH positions with Lido exposure, noting that what actually happened remains unclear even after conversations with multiple parties.
Ether.fi and Aave both said their platforms are unaffected, with ether.fi confirming weETH carries no related exposure and Aave’s markets operating normally.
FTC Investigates AI “Superintelligence” Claims
The US Federal Trade Commission launched a comprehensive investigation into Anthropic, OpenAI, and other companies over superintelligent AI models, according to the New York Post. The probe comes as the Trump administration pushes to rebrand artificial intelligence as “Super Intelligence,” with trader Bonk Guy noting that both the US President and Elon Musk are promoting the terminology shift.
Kalshi Funding Round
Kalshi is in advanced talks to raise approximately $1 billion at a $40 billion valuation, led by Sequoia Capital and Wellington Management, with Tiger Global and Dragoneer potentially participating. The round would nearly double Kalshi’s valuation from the $22 billion mark set in its $1 billion Series F round in May.
Ripple’s Billion-Dollar Unlock
Ripple released 1 billion XRP from escrow in four transactions worth approximately $1.49 billion, completed within minutes. Ripple typically follows a preset release schedule, with unlocked tokens used for ecosystem development and operating funds.

Micron’s Blowout Quarter
Micron reported fiscal fourth-quarter revenue of $54.23 billion, up 379% year-over-year and above the roughly $51 billion analyst consensus, with GAAP net income of $37.7 billion. CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said the company has signed 26 long-term agreements locking in about $150 billion in orders, and that memory market supply-demand will be tighter in 2027 and 2028 than in 2026. D.A. Davidson raised its price target on Micron to $2,100 following the results.
Google’s Gemini 4 Launch
Google released Gemini 4 Argon, first making it available to the US government and select cybersecurity partners through its Fairwind program before a broader rollout to paying users. The model scored 77.9% on the DeepSWE v1.1 coding benchmark and raised the output limit to 1 million tokens, though some Google insiders reportedly found its real-world coding performance less impressive than its benchmark scores suggest.
Institutional Bitcoin Accumulation
Morgan Stanley’s Bitcoin holdings through its MSBT ETF surpassed 10,000 BTC for the first time, reaching 10,436 BTC worth approximately $875 million, according to Arkham monitoring. CoinShares reported that digital asset investment products saw $3.5 billion in net inflows last week, with Bitcoin ETFs taking in about $2.38 billion and Ethereum ETFs adding $690 million, both maintaining inflows for five consecutive trading days.
