MoonPay plans to acquire private-markets infrastructure provider North Capital for more than $60 million. The all-stock transaction marks another step in MoonPay’s push into tokenized assets and financial-market infrastructure.

Consequently, North Capital will become a wholly owned MoonPay subsidiary after the deal closes. Regulatory approval and other customary conditions still stand before completion.

MoonPay Expands Into Tokenized Markets

North Capital operates technology and financial services for private securities markets. Its platform has processed more than $8.7 billion across primary and secondary transactions. Additionally, the company supports fundraising, asset management, custody, clearing, and secondary trading.

North Capital also operates regulated broker-dealers and a transfer agent. Its PPEX platform offers more than 1,250 approved assets for secondary trading.

Moreover, MoonPay launched Trade in May to connect financial firms with tokenized assets. The platform also links users with decentralized finance protocols and stablecoin liquidity.

Building Broader Financial Infrastructure

Besides North Capital, MoonPay acquired Solana trading infrastructure provider DFlow earlier this year. The company also acquired crypto security startup Sodot.

Significantly, these deals broaden MoonPay’s role beyond cryptocurrency payments. The company recently added Discover alongside Visa and Mastercard for crypto purchases.
