Crypto sentiment has climbed into “extreme greed” for the first time since late 2024, signaling a sharp turnaround in investor mood.
The CoinMarketCap Crypto Fear and Greed Index rose to 81 on Sunday and held 80 on Monday, up from about 36 a month earlier. The 45-point jump shows how quickly investors have turned more bullish on digital assets.

Bitcoin Leads the Sentiment Shift
Bitcoin rose about 22% over the past week, taking its share of the crypto market to 59.7%. Ethereum held 11.2%.

The rally has also brought more money into leveraged bets. Open interest in perpetual futures reached $431.93 billion. Bitcoin’s implied volatility was 45.36%, compared with 60.58% for Ethereum.
The wider market was worth about $2.65 trillion, down 0.12% over the past 24 hours. Trading volume fell 20.09% to $105.76 billion.
Liquidity and Regulation
The U.S. Treasury plans to increase buybacks of long-dated government bonds to at least $4 billion per month starting in September. The move has helped push bond yields lower and supported demand for risk assets such as Bitcoin.
Regulation remains an important consideration for institutional investors. A Goldman Sachs survey found that 35% of institutions viewed regulatory uncertainty as the biggest barrier to wider crypto adoption.
Another 32% said clearer regulation would be the strongest catalyst for increasing crypto adoption.
The data shows a sharp contrast in the market. Bitcoin momentum and investor confidence have strengthened, while trading activity remains weaker.
