Deus X Capital, a crypto-focused investment firm with operations in Malta, London, and the United Arab Emirates, launched today, according to reports from TheBlock. Former Galaxy Digital top executive Tim Grant will sit at the company’s helm as its chief executive officer (CEO).

According to the announcement, Deus X Capital claims to have raised $1 billion in investment assets and capital. The company said the funds will be put into private equity, venture capital, venture building, and fund allocation opportunities.

Before stepping in as the CEO role at Deus X Capital, Grant served as the head of EMEA for Galaxy Digital. He also previously held CEO roles at SIX Group Digital Exchange and R3 Lab and Research Centre.

Per the report, Grant will lead the company alongside Stuart Connolly, who will serve as the chief investment officer at Deus X. Connolly’s work portfolio includes working at Red Acre Ventures as investment director since 2020. Following Deus X’s debut, all of Red Acre’s investments now sit under the company.

Furthermore, the announcement stated that Grant had been appointed chairman of crypto market maker AlphaLab40. The company, founded by Connolly, will be Deus X’s first incubation project. Connolly currently serves as CEO at AlphaLab40.

According to the report, Deus X Capital invests globally, with investments in Netrios and stakes in Hilbert Group and Galaxy. In addition, the company said it has venture capital investments in SEBA, HAYVN, and Cryptochill, alongside other undisclosed hedge funds.

The company’s announcement comes at a time when investors’ confidence in the crypto space has dwindled. Following consecutive market crashes and record-low trade volumes, cash flow into the space has been significantly impacted. A regulatory onslaught has also affected the ecosystem.
