Face-off Between Ripple CTO and Acclaimed Bitcoin Maker Explained
  • Ripple’s CTO and a self-acclaimed creator of BTC argued, calling names.
  • The feud started last year when Wright said institutional investors wouldn’t adopt.
  • These two crypto pioneers also debated the merits and flaws of XRP.

Recently, David Schwartz, the chief technology officer (CTO) of the Ripple blockchain (XRP), and Craig Wright, a self-acclaimed creator of Bitcoin, entered a heated argument, with both parties calling the other names.

In a series of tweets today, the Ripple CTO left a negative reply to a comment by the creator of CoinGeek, referencing Wright in the process. Wright tweeted back, saying Schwartz was devoid of logic and full of fallacies.

While Schwartz and Wright continued exchanging negative remarks, it became clear that both parties were carrying personal resentments from a last year’s debate. The feud started shortly before Christmas eve when Wright proclaimed to the crypto community that institutional investors would never adopt Bitcoin unless the system were recoverable under a legal court order.

The Ripple CTO claimed Wright’s argument was dumb ‘for so many reasons,’ asking why institutional investors are the target market for peer-to-peer digital cash.

The self-acclaimed Bitcoin creator responded with what Schwartz considered “ad hominem” (against the man) after Wright called him ignorant on multiple technological fronts. Wright’s response also included attacks on the Ripple blockchain, which he called ‘the most useless pump and dump scheme in the entire Web3 industry.’

Consequently, these two crypto pioneers debated the merits and flaws of XRP versus Wright’s Bitcoin alternative, BSV. While XRP ranks the third largest altcoin with a market cap of over $17 billion, BSV ranks 44 with a market below $1 billion.
