The blockchain application provider Ledger announced on Twitter that Cardano users can now create smart contracts using the Cardano Babbage v5.0.0 app. The application is now available for download on Ledger Live.

Cardano Babbage v5.0.0 uses Vasil upgraded Plutus script to create smart contracts.

However, note that before downloading the app, users must ensure that they are running the latest version of the Ledger Live app and also that they are running the latest firmware on their Ledger wallet.

Moreover, Ledger Support warned that contrary to Cardano v4 app, Ledger Live does not currently support the Babbage App. As a result, users can only use it with third-party apps like Nami, Typhon, and Eternl.

In response to user’s query on NFTs, Ledger said that the firm is looking into adding NFT support for more blockchains in the future, but has no estimated arrival time as of yet.

Ledger also informed that it is still working on introducing staking to Ledger Live although users can still stake their Cardano(ADA) on Ledger by linking it with Adalite.

Additionally, Ledger also claimed that unlike before, users can now confirm transactions on NFT marketplaces through the ledgers with the advent of Cardano v5.0.0 app. The move has garnered positive responses from the crypto community.

Meanwhile, CTO at Input Output Global (IOG), the developer of Cardano network, Romain Pellerin took this opportunity to take a jibe at FTX’s Sam Bankman-Fried who described Cardano as a new blockchain recently.
