Mantle, one of the world’s largest DAO-led web3 ecosystems built around Ethereum layer 2 (L2) Mantle Network, today unveiled Mantle Journey, an open-access, incentives-based user engagement program that is designed to encourage and reward community participation across Mantle Ecosystem. Mantle Journey leverages the use of its own non-transferable soulbound token, the Mantle Journey Soulbound Token (“MJSBT”), which captures the users’ digital identity as they contribute to and engage with Mantle Ecosystem.

By being awarded for on-chain and off-chain activity, participants of Mantle Journey are able to clearly measure their impact to Mantle Ecosystem via a community engagement index, which tracks the evolution of their role in shaping Mantle’s future. A market-first innovation within the L2 space, Mantle Journey marks a significant milestone in elevating the role of user engagement in a blockchain ecosystem — bridging the gap between protocols and users while providing the infrastructure for protocols to align their incentives across Mantle’s extended ecosystem.

Reflective of Mantle’s commitment towards creating an ecosystem-wide incentive flywheel, Mantle Journey kickstarts an interactive expedition for all contributors across Mantle Ecosystem to deepen meaningful user engagement for builders and dApp users. Season Alpha of Mantle Journey commences with a 20,000,000 $MNT reward pool, with its end date to be announced in the near future. Coinciding with the launch, there will be a two-week campaign offering an additional 500,000 $MNT, and 20,000 whitelist spots for Mantle’s inaugural NFT collection, Citizens of Mantle.

The arrival of Mantle Journey follows the official mint of Citizens of Mantle, a commemorative NFT collection created by renowned international visual artist Chen Man, that heralded the celebrated

mainnet launch of Mantle Network in July 2023. Galvanizing the Gamification of User Incentive Alignment

Mantle Journey pioneers a proprietary user-ecosystem engagement index which measures the frequency and type of engagement among users. Indexed on-chain activities include Mantle Network transaction counts, Value Locked (“VL”), interactions with specific smart contracts, as well as social and governance activities.

The program consists of multiple seasons with dynamic miles accumulation and reward rules, each lasting several months. The establishment of program rules such as activity-miles weightage, account qualification criteria and reward distributions will be initially determined by the Mantle core contributor team. In the spirit of empowering token holders with governance rights, Mantle community users will subsequently be able to provide feedback and improvements upon evaluation of prior seasons’ results. Specific rules will be revealed periodically before the end of each season.

Introducing a miles-based rewards system derived from indexed activity, participants will accrue Mantle Journey (“MJ”) Season Miles and MJ Lifetime Miles that can be redeemed for various rewards at the end of each season. This includes minting a Citizens of Mantle NFT avatar, earning rare upgradeability traits for their Citizens of Mantle NFT, ecosystem rewards exchanges, exclusive whitelists for new drops and many more.

Mantle Journey Begins: The Merge of On-Chain and Off-Chain Interactivity

Interested users can now participate in the program by minting a MJSBT via their participating wallet. As a non-transferable digital identity token, minted MJSBTs capture distinct characteristics, records and achievements of users in Mantle Ecosystem. Differentiating itself from other ecosystem engagement initiatives, Mantle Journey participants are able to opt-in for off-chain rewards by linking social media handles to their respective MJSBTs.

By connecting their Mantle Journey Profiles with social media accounts, users will be directly embedded within Mantle’s Reputation Layer to allow protocols and dApps in Mantle Ecosystem to engage directly with users. This will redefine the realms of web3 community engagement to encompass a wider scope of digital activity, bridging the gap between web2 and web3 to incentivize participants who are committed to the broader decentralized future.

Made in partnership with C lique, an identity infrastructure protocol, Mantle Journey leverages the power of identity oracles to verify the provenance of user behavior data off-chain. A pioneering primitive in the wider web3 ecosystem, the technical collaboration sees the direct integration of user attestations as a fundamental component of Mantle’s Reputation Layer. By bringing web2 user behaviors and identity data on-chain, Mantle users are able to align unique identity verification across different platforms, while preserving privacy of behavioral information.
