  • Polkadot price prediction stays bullish above $1.19, targeting $1.30 first and $1.40 next
  • DOT gained 45.4% in September, its biggest monthly move of 2026
  • Referendum 1944 proposes a Polkadot-native stablecoin, dotUSD, and was still undecided on October 6

Polkadot price prediction for October stays bullish above $1.19, the level DOT needs to hold to keep its recovery from the August low intact.

Polkadot Price Analysis: Can DOT Clear the $1.33 Trendline in October?

DOT trades near $1.23, sitting between two rising trendlines, with the upper one near $1.33 and the lower one near $1.09. The lower line is climbing faster, so the space between them keeps shrinking, and price is likely to break out one way or the other within the next few weeks. To push higher, DOT first needs a daily close above $1.30, the late-September high, which would bring the upper line and then $1.40 into range.

Support is close by, since DOT dipped to about $1.14 earlier this month, held near the 20-day EMA at $1.17 and has since recovered above the 200-day EMA at $1.19. If that level breaks, the next supports are the 50-day EMA at $1.07 and the 100-day at $1.03. RSI at 60.03 is still below 70, which leaves room for another push before the rally looks overheated.

Polkadot October Seasonality: Three Gains in Six Years

DOT has closed October higher in three of six completed years since 2020, with an average gain of 3.91% and a median of 0.68%. A 49.3% surge in 2021 lifts the average, and October fell in each of the last two years, by 10.6% in 2024 and 26.2% in 2025, so the median is the better guide.

September gained 45.4% in a month with a median loss of 3.90%, following a 10.7% gain in August. Applied to $1.23, the median implies about $1.24 and the average about $1.28. Both are historical references rather than targets, and with 0.83% already booked this month they likely overstate the upside.

DOT News: Polkadot’s dotUSD Stablecoin Proposal Asks for $5 Million and Awaits a Vote

Referendum 1944 proposes dotUSD, a stablecoin built into Polkadot, plus a DOT and dotUSD liquidity pool. It would use $2.5 million in USDT to mint the first dotUSD and $2.5 million in DOT to seed the pool, and its governance listing still read “Deciding” on October 6, so it has not been approved.

The proposal describes a later phase in which dotUSD is backed by more DOT than the stablecoins issued, which could add demand for DOT if it is built, though the first phase is backed by USDT and not by DOT.

DOT News: Polkadot Invites Builders to Test Apps on Its Devnet

Polkadot’s official account invited developers to build and deploy apps on its Devnet, a pre-production network for testing before anything reaches the main chain.

The post describes the aim as a new internet that is “decentralised, private and, for once, convenient.” It gives no mainnet date and does not say how the Devnet would affect demand for DOT.

21Shares Polkadot Fund Pays $0.045 Per Share From Staking Rewards

21Shares said its Polkadot Staking ETF, ticker TDOT, paid a distribution of $0.045029 per share on September 30, funded by staking rewards, with a September 29 record date.

The payout is staking income passed to shareholders and is separate from any move in DOT’s price. CoinMarketCap’s news digest also reported that Polkadot funds took in no new money in the week ending October 2, a figure that has not been checked against fund data.

Polkadot Price Prediction for October 2026: Where Could DOT Trade Each Week?

PeriodExpected RangeKey Levels
Oct 6 to 12$1.17 to $1.30The 20-day EMA at $1.17 and 200-day EMA at $1.19 need to hold, with $1.30 as the first hurdle.
Oct 13 to 19$1.17 to $1.35A close above $1.30 puts the upper line, near $1.35 by mid-month, in range.
Oct 20 to 26$1.19 to $1.38The lower line, now climbing from $1.19 to $1.23, becomes the floor, and a close above the upper line near $1.37 opens $1.40.
Oct 27 to 31$1.10 to $1.40The October 28 Fed decision sets the tone, with the lower line near $1.25 as support and the upper line near $1.39 as resistance.

Polkadot Price Prediction for October: Can DOT Reach $1.40 or Fall to $1.07?

Bullish Case, Target: $1.40

DOT holds the 200-day EMA at $1.19, closes a day above $1.30 and then clears the upper line near $1.33. That opens $1.40, where the line climbs to by month-end. Approval of the dotUSD proposal would add support, since its later phase could create demand for DOT as collateral.

Bearish Case, Risk Level: $1.07 (50-Day EMA)

DOT loses the 200-day EMA at $1.19 and the 20-day at $1.17, then falls through the rising lower line, which sits near $1.09 today and higher each day. A daily close below the 50-day EMA at $1.07 would expose the 100-day EMA at $1.03 and the round $1.00 level.

FAQs: DOT Outlook for October 2026

What is the Polkadot price prediction for October 2026?

DOT could extend toward $1.30 and then $1.40 in October if it holds above the 200-day EMA at $1.19 and clears the upper trendline near $1.33. A daily close below the 50-day EMA at $1.07 would put the 100-day EMA at $1.03 in play.

Will Polkadot reach $2 in October?

It is unlikely. $2 would need a gain of about 62% from $1.23, more than any October in the table, where the best was 49.3% in 2021, measured on monthly close. The upper trendline only reaches about $1.39 by month-end.

Could Polkadot fall below $1 in October?

Yes, if it loses the 200-day EMA at $1.19 and the rising lower line. $1.00 is a drop of about 19%, which only October 2025, at 26.2%, exceeded in the six completed years, and the 100-day EMA at $1.03 sits just above it.

What is Polkadot’s dotUSD proposal?

Referendum 1944 proposes a stablecoin built into Polkadot, with $2.5 million in USDT to mint dotUSD and $2.5 million in DOT for a liquidity pool. It was still listed as undecided on October 6, so it has not passed.
