Polygon’s Founder Says Chainlink Integration Is a “Game-Changer for DeFi”
  • Polygon’s founder, Sandeep Nailwal, called Chainlink’s Data Feeds integration on Polygon a “game-changer for DeFi.”
  • Nailwal said the integration will improve and open up new opportunities for players in Polygon’s DeFi space.
  • The founder said Chainlink’s CCIP technology places Polygon developers in a position to tap into emerging ecosystems.

Sandeep Nailwal, founder of Polygon, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his optimism following Chainlink’s Data Feeds integration on Polygon zkEVM, highlighting it as one of the significant strides on the blockchain heading into 2024.

Nailwal, in a tweet, noted that the recent development underscored the continued partnership between Chainlink and Polygon since 2021. According to the founder, the integration further opens up Polygon, as “Chainlink is now used by the largest protocols like Aave and Gains and secures 85-90% of the available liquidity.”

Furthermore, Nailwal said the integration ushers Polygon into a new era, especially for DeFi applications on the blockchain. “The combination of Chainlink’s industry-leading data solution and the Polygon zkEVM’s ZK Rollup superpowers will be a game changer for DeFi, making a whole new class of advanced DeFi applications possible,” he stated in the tweet.

Additionally, Nailwal sees Chainlink’s CCIP as an important piece in the integration, adding that it will be the connection between the DeFi economy and the emerging bank blockchain ecosystem. That includes the tokenized real world assets (RWAs) sector, which Nailwal said could drive trillions of dollars to move onchain.

Meanwhile, Nailwal’s comments follow a Thursday announcement that Chainlink Data Feeds are now live on Polygon zkEVM. The integration is set to empower developers to build advanced DeFi applications with the industry-leading data solution, the announcement read.

In a statement, Marc Borion, CEO of Polygon Labs, said the Data Feeds integration improves and introduces new opportunities to the DeFi ecosystem on Polygon. “This functionality is set to unlock the deployment of several significant DeFi protocols on Polygon zkEVM early next year,” Borion remarked.
