Ripple is expanding XRP’s visibility beyond financial markets after becoming an official sponsor of Kansas Jayhawks athletics. The partnership will place the XRP logo on team jerseys, making it the first cryptocurrency brand displayed on the uniforms of a major collegiate sports program.

Notably, the deal connects Ripple with the University of Kansas community through CEO Brad Garlinghouse, who is a KU alumnus. The partnership combines sports branding with technology education initiatives aimed at student-athletes and graduates.

XRP Logo Arrives on Kansas Jayhawks Jerseys

The sponsorship agreement will introduce the XRP patch across Kansas Athletics uniforms as part of Ripple’s broader partnership with the university’s sports programs.

Kansas Athletics director Travis Goff said the collaboration reflects a shared focus on innovation and excellence while giving XRP access to the large Jayhawk fan base.

The move follows a recent NCAA decision allowing Division I teams to display corporate logos on jerseys starting in August. While cryptocurrency companies have previously sponsored sports teams and venues, jersey branding at the college level represents a new opportunity for digital asset companies.

Ripple said the partnership will help introduce XRP to millions of sports fans through one of college athletics’ most recognized programs.

Ripple Expands Education and Technology Programs

Beyond jersey branding, Ripple has committed to supporting financial and technology education programs for Kansas student-athletes.

The company will also expand its existing talent pipeline, connecting Kansas graduates with career opportunities across the technology sector.

The initiative adds an educational element to the sponsorship, with Ripple focusing on blockchain awareness and career development alongside traditional sports marketing.

Meanwhile, the partnership strengthens Ripple’s connection with the University of Kansas through Garlinghouse, who previously highlighted his ties to the institution.

Even so, the Kansas partnership arrives after Ripple closed a years-long legal dispute with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The SEC filed a case against Ripple in 2020, alleging the company raised $1.3 billion through XRP sales that violated securities laws. The dispute ended after Ripple agreed to pay approximately $125 million, while both sides dismissed their appeals last year.

Garlinghouse said the legal battle created uncertainty around XRP but argued that the technology’s use cases remained unchanged.

XRP currently ranks among the largest non-stablecoin cryptocurrencies by market capitalization. The new Kansas partnership marks another step in Ripple’s effort to increase mainstream recognition of the XRP brand through partnerships outside traditional crypto markets.
