Samsung outlined a new direction for Samsung Wallet during its Galaxy Unpacked event, revealing plans to expand the platform beyond traditional payment features to include stablecoins.
While the functionality has not yet been released, the company presented it as part of its long-term roadmap, placing it alongside existing Wallet features such as payment cards, digital IDs, boarding passes, and digital keys.
The announcement came as Samsung introduced the Samsung Galaxy Card in the United States, marking the first financial product built directly around Samsung Wallet, in partnership with Barclays and Visa.
Samsung Wallet Roadmap Includes Stablecoins
During the presentation, Samsung described the evolution of Samsung Wallet from what it called “a secure hub for payments” into what it aims to become as an “everyday wallet” capable of storing a broader range of digital assets.
The company stated that Samsung Wallet will expand beyond cash and savings to include stablecoins, describing them as a new form of digital value. Samsung said the feature is intended to support fast digital value transfers while relying on Samsung Knox security and end-to-end encryption.
Although the stablecoin functionality is not yet available, a demo shown during the event displayed a “Stablecoin account” featuring USDC issued by Circle. The interface included a visible account balance together with options to send, receive, and top up funds.
Galaxy Card Becomes First Wallet-Based Financial Product
Alongside the roadmap announcement, Samsung introduced the Samsung Galaxy Card, a credit card developed with Barclays and Visa for customers in the United States. Eligible customers received early access, while public applications began on July 22, 2026.
According to Samsung, cardholders can earn 5% cash rewards on eligible Samsung purchases, 3% on purchases made through Samsung Wallet, 2% on eligible streaming services including Netflix, Disney+, and Spotify, and 1% on all other purchases.
The card also provides a 20% discount on Samsung VIP Advantage, together with additional cash rewards on qualifying membership purchases and renewals.
Samsung said the Galaxy Card integrates directly into Samsung Wallet, allowing users to keep it alongside compatible payment cards, IDs, passes, and digital keys within the same application. The company added that Samsung Knox provides on-device security for Wallet users.
