Telegram’s Asia-Pacific outage disrupted messaging across several countries after problems emerged at the platform’s DC5 data center in Singapore. Users across Singapore, India, Indonesia, Australia and other regional markets reported messages stuck in transit, chats failing to load and accounts remaining on updating.

Telegram’s DC5 Outage Spreads Across Asia-Pacific

Telegram’s DC5, a Singapore-based data center serving much of Asia-Pacific, experienced an outage affecting users across the region. Accounts linked to several regional phone prefixes remain assigned to the cluster even when users travel elsewhere.

Reports began rising in Singapore at around 10:20 a.m. local time. Complaints there increased to nearly 4,000 at the peak, making Singapore the center of the disruption.

However, the outage quickly showed a wider regional footprint. India recorded more than 1,000 reports during parts of the disruption, while Indonesia peaked at 1,284. The Philippines recorded 933 reports, Malaysia 544, Vietnam 530, and Thailand 253. Users in Australia also reported connectivity problems.

Messages, Chats and Logins Stop Working

The outage affected several core Telegram functions. About half of reported problems involved the app generally, while roughly 40% concerned messaging. Another 5% involved login failures.

For affected users, the disruption prevented messages from being sent or received, while some conversations failed to load and accounts remained stuck on updating. Media delivery was also affected, with connectivity problems continuing across parts of the region as service slowly recovered.

The geographic spread made the incident appear much larger than a single data center failure. Telegram’s other data centers continued operating normally, confirming that the disruption centered on DC5 rather than the entire platform.

Telegram Asia-Pacific Outage Highlights Concentration Risk

Service began recovering around 11:30 a.m. Singapore time. Telegram Info later said the DC5 issue appeared to be fixed, although some Asia-Pacific users continued to report connectivity problems during the recovery. Independent monitoring showed normal service in other regions.

The incident therefore puts infrastructure concentration and resilience in focus. Telegram’s DC5 cluster serves users across several major markets, meaning one regional disruption can create simultaneous problems across national borders.

For traders and investors who rely on Telegram channels, alerts, and automated bots, the outage also showed the practical value of redundancy, geographic failover, and sufficient regional capacity when communication depends on a shared infrastructure cluster.
