  • Payments and trading could make crypto super apps more useful for everyday transactions.
  • AI-powered wallets aim to simplify crypto transactions while keeping users in control.
  • Privacy, lower fees and new audience channels remain key to wider crypto adoption.

Crypto super apps are positioned to attract more daily users by combining payment services with trading and token swaps, speakers said during four panels hosted by ChangeNOW at TOKEN2049 Singapore.

Representatives from MetaMask, Trezor, WalletConnect and other crypto companies discussed ways to simplify crypto, integrate financial services and attract users beyond the existing crypto community.

Payments and Trading Will Drive Crypto Super Apps

Rubic co-founder Aleksandra Korneva said people who use crypto apps mainly to swap tokens have little reason to open them every day. Adding payment services gives users more reasons to use their wallets regularly.

Pulsar Money CEO Alex Radu said payments and trading form the foundation of crypto super apps, bringing multiple financial services together in one place.

“They just want to transact in a safe and secure and cheap way,” Radu said, highlighting users’ demand for safe, affordable and reliable transactions.

However, CoinRoutes’ Michelle Herman warned against putting every service into a single app. Specialized platforms retain their value, she said, emphasizing that protecting user data and ensuring reliable transactions remain essential.

Wallets Embrace AI and Simpler Transactions

Another panel explored how crypto wallets are simplifying transactions, particularly when users move funds between different blockchains.

Yana, ChangeNOW’s Head of Business Development and Account Management, said gas fees complicate cross-chain swaps. Users often need specific tokens to pay these fees, adding extra steps to the process.

A MetaMask representative discussed using AI agents to execute transactions on behalf of users. Trezor software product lead Denis described efforts to let hardware wallet users approve actions initiated by these AI agents.

Simplifying transactions does not mean hiding important information. Denis said users must retain access to transaction details whenever they need them. The goal is to make crypto easier to use while preserving users’ understanding and control of their funds.

Privacy and Infrastructure Remain Essential

WalletConnect’s Diana Alexandrova said everyday crypto payments should not require advanced technical knowledge. “They don’t have to be cryptographers,” she said.

Aztec Labs highlighted the importance of privacy, particularly for businesses. Companies hesitate to adopt blockchain payment systems when sensitive financial information, including employee transactions, remains publicly visible.

Infrastructure providers also emphasized collaboration. Banxa advocated cooperation among specialized providers, while RocketX discussed bringing liquidity from multiple sources into a single interface.

Across the discussions, speakers identified four major barriers to crypto adoption: high transaction costs, complicated processes, privacy concerns and limited access to liquidity.

Another panel examined how crypto companies and media outlets are adapting to changes in how people discover information online through AI.

Media representatives said they are prioritizing interviews, podcasts and direct relationships with readers rather than relying primarily on search engines.

CoinEasy described a different experience in South Korea, where its strong local search presence and community have helped cushion the impact of these changes. The company also discussed using AI tools to reach users while expanding community events and physical products.

The discussion underscored that simplifying crypto apps alone will not drive mass adoption. Companies also need effective strategies to introduce their products to new audiences and build lasting relationships with users.

Across all four panels, speakers emphasized accessible payments, simpler wallets, stronger privacy and new audience-reach strategies. They also stressed that convenience must go hand in hand with security, transparency and reliable services.
