President Donald Trump used the opening ceremony of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations to promote what he described as a strong economic turnaround in the United States, claiming the country is entering a period of rapid growth ahead of its semiquincentennial year.

Speaking on the National Mall in Washington, Trump officially launched the Great American State Fair, a nationwide celebration that will run through July 10 and feature exhibits from all 50 states and six US territories.

“We are beginning the most unforgettable birthday party any country has ever seen,” Trump said while opening the event. He added that America’s 250th year is set for an “economic boom” unlike anything seen before.

Trump Highlights Investment and Market Growth

During his speech, Trump pointed to several economic figures that he said demonstrate the strength of the US economy under his administration.

According to Trump, the country has attracted $19.1 trillion in new investments. He also said more Americans are employed today than at any previous point in the nation’s history.

Trump further claimed that manufacturing activity is returning to the United States as companies expand domestic production and open new facilities.

On financial markets, he highlighted 73 record highs in the stock market, presenting them as evidence of investor confidence and economic momentum.

The president also promoted his administration’s policy agenda, citing what he described as the largest spending cuts and regulatory reductions in US history. He additionally pointed to tax changes that eliminate federal taxes on tips, overtime pay, and Social Security benefits.

National Anniversary Launches With Rally-Style Event

The speech marked the beginning of a 16-day celebration tied to America’s 250th anniversary. The event included military flyovers, performances by military bands, patriotic displays, and appearances from supporters gathered on the National Mall.

Trump told attendees that America had regained global standing and was entering what he called a new “golden age.” He argued that the country had moved beyond a period of economic and political weakness and was now positioned for further growth.

The president also linked lower energy costs to recent developments in the Middle East, saying gasoline prices could continue to decline following efforts to ease tensions with Iran.

While the anniversary event focused on national celebrations, Trump repeatedly returned to economic themes throughout his address.

He described the United States as having the world’s largest economy, strongest military, most powerful technology sector, and greatest culture. He framed those strengths as the foundation for future growth as the country approaches its 250th year of independence.
