  • Unserious takes control of Creepz as Psychrome returns to steer its creative direction.
  • Creepz has recorded about 27,400 ETH in trading volume since launching in January 2022.
  • Adam Weitsman backed the deal after buying 636 NFTs tied to the project treasury.

Unserious Inc. has formally acquired Creepz, placing the Ethereum NFT brand under new ownership as original artist Psychrome returns to direct its creative revival. Financial terms, however, were not disclosed, leaving the transaction’s structure unknown.

The July 23 announcement said entrepreneur and collector Adam Weitsman is backing the deal, while the project’s founders will support the transition.

Psychrome Returns to Rebuild Creepz’s Creative Direction

According to the disclosure, Psychrome will oversee intellectual property development and creative direction. His return restores the artist who created the project’s lizard characters, visual identity, and lore, giving the collection familiar creative leadership after several years away from the Lemuria universe.

The announcement also highlighted Psychrome’s commercial work involving Nike, Salomon, Disney, Warner Bros., Rovio, and Sneaker Con.

Unserious Inherits Creepz’s Gaming and Media Ambitions

Creepz launched in January 2022 during the NFT market’s speculative peak. Since then, OpenSea has recorded about 11,100 items and approximately 27,400 ETH in cumulative volume.

Nonetheless, the brand later expanded beyond profile-picture collectibles. In 2023, Overlord introduced a Spotify pilot that gave holders access to token-gated playlists.

Creepz also entered fashion through its “Invasion” clothing collection with British retailer END. At the same time, Overlord partnered with Revolving Games to develop a science-fiction game based on the same universe.

Before the acquisition, Weitsman said he had purchased 636 NFTs representing the project’s entire treasury, along with additional pieces from the original collection, underscoring his existing involvement with the project before backing the deal.

Despite the ownership change, neither party explained whether existing games, holder benefits, licensing agreements, or the proposed CREEPZ token will continue unchanged under the new ownership structure.

With Psychrome returning to lead creative development and Weitsman backing the acquisition, attention now turns to how Unserious will shape the next phase of the Creepz brand.
