The US and Iranian officials are gearing up for a potential second round of high-stakes negotiations, trying to rescue diplomacy after the first round in Islamabad fell apart.

According to multiple reports, discussions are underway to restart dialogue before the ceasefire runs out, even though big issues like Iran’s nuclear program and who controls the Strait of Hormuz are still unresolved.

The first round of talks ended with no deal after long, grueling sessions, but officials from both sides have signaled they’re open to trying again.

One of the unresolved issues is about nuclear enrichment limits. The US wants a 20‑year halt, but Iran is offering five years. Additionally, control of the Strait of Hormuz is another issue, where the US wants free access for everyone, while Iran has been using it as leverage with restrictions and fees, possibly for war reparations.

Despite these gaps, the US officials, including Vice President JD Vance, say the talks are making progress, raising hope that a second round could bring meaningful breakthroughs.

In the meantime, tensions have intensified as the US has set up a naval blockade targeting Iranian ports, trying to pressure Iran’s economy and force the country to give ground.

As such, the Strait of Hormuz chaos is driving up oil and gas prices globally, creating supply jams for fertilizer and other goods. The UN’s food and agriculture agency warned on Monday that this could spiral into a worldwide food disaster.

How Crypto Markets May React

What comes out of the second round of US–Iran talks will probably hit crypto markets directly.

If they succeed, that could be bullish for crypto, since lower geopolitical tension usually makes investors more comfortable with risk. This would mean capital flows back into crypto, and we could see a relief rally for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Basically, volatility drops as macro fears ease.

On the other hand, if talks fail, an immediate risk‑off reaction may cause a crypto sell‑off. In this scenario, crypto likely moves more in line with traditional markets, where people look for financial safe havens.

There’s also a chance that long‑term instability might strengthen crypto’s narrative as a shield against geopolitical and financial system turmoil.
