XRP Ledger Hits 14-Year Milestone As Network Activity Surges
  • The anniversary goes back to June 2, 2012, when the XRP Ledger genesis block was created.
  • XRP Ledger’s payment transaction volume rose to about 1.511 billion $XRP.
  • Daily XRP Ledger transactions jumped 35.3% from the previous quarter to hit 2.48 million.

XRP hit a big milestone as it celebrated its 14th anniversary, marked by fresh growth in XRP Ledger’s (XRPL) activity and payment volume.

The anniversary goes back to June 2, 2012, when the XRP Ledger genesis block was created, making it one of the oldest continuously running blockchains in crypto. It launched about three years before Ethereum, and only a few years after Bitcoin.

That being said, the payment volume has jumped notably in the run‑up to the 14th birthday, showing the network is still handling heavy transaction volume even with all the market swings. To be more precise, it rose to about 1.511 billion $XRP. Additionally, daily payment counts stayed above 1 million transactions.

Payment activity is often a better sign of adoption than trading volume, since it shows actual use of the network.

According to data, XRP Ledger has processed over 4 billion transactions, around 7.9 million activated wallets, over 100 million ledgers closed, and network uptime above 99.99% since day one.

Interestingly, the network activity continues to expand. Messari’s Q1 2026 State of XRP report says daily XRPL transactions jumped 35.3% from the previous quarter to hit 2.48 million.

XRP Anniversary Price History

When the XRP Ledger launched in June 2012, XRP technically had no market price. On June 2, 2013, it traded at a fraction of a cent, usually around $0.005. XRP traded similarly on its anniversary day for the following years, until 2017, when the first massive altcoin boom happened.

On June 2, 2017, XRP traded at approximately $0.26, increasing to roughly $0.60 the following year. It recorded a decline for the next anniversary in 2019, with its price falling to $0.40, and then dropping even more to $0.20 on June 2, 2020.

During this time, XRP was under the heavy regulatory shadow of the SEC lawsuit, constantly fluctuating between $0.30 and $0.70 for the most part on its anniversary days, until 2025.

That year, the lawsuit against Ripple finally settled, and in combination with other factors (such as the spot ETF launch), XRP rose sharply. On June 2, 2025, its price was $2.2, a huge increase over previous years.

However, on this year’s anniversary, the price dropped to $1.22, which is still the second-highest anniversary price.
