- XRPL 3.1.3 has been available for more than a week, yet 40% of the network has not updated, Vet said.
- The fixCleanup3_1_3 amendment is expected to activate in nine days, as outdated nodes may lose communication with the XRP Ledger after activation.

XRP Ledger validators are facing a tight upgrade window as XRPL version 3.1.3 approaches amendment activation. According to Vet, only 40% of the network has updated more than a week after the release became available.
The update matters because nodes running older versions may be unable to communicate with the network once the fix amendment activates. Vet said the amendment is expected to go live in nine days, putting exchanges, validators, DEX interfaces, NFT marketplaces, and other XRPL projects under pressure to complete the upgrade.
XRPL 3.1.3 Upgrade Deadline Nears
The latest network state data shows 846 nodes running different Rippled versions. The largest share, 40%, is already on Ripple 3.1.3, while 35% remains on version 3.1.2.
Other nodes remain scattered across older versions, including 3.0.0, 3.1.0, and 3.1.1. That split shows the network is still in transition as the amendment deadline approaches.

Vet warned that every node not updated to 3.1.3 may be unable to communicate with the network after activation. This process, known as amendment blocking, protects ledger consistency when old software cannot understand new consensus rules.
Notably, the network state also showed 138 mainnet validators and 35 out of 35 default UNL validators online. However, the broader upgrade count remains important since infrastructure providers and applications also depend on reliable node connectivity.
Fix Amendment Targets’ Network Issues
XRPL version 3.1.3 includes the fixCleanup3_1_3 amendment, which brings several technical fixes to the network. The update covers areas tied to NFTs, permissioned domains, vaults, and lending operations.
One fix targets expired NFTokenOffer entries. Under the new amendment, expired NFT offers can be cleaned up during transaction processing, reducing unnecessary ledger clutter.
Additionally, the update strengthens checks around permissioned domains. It prevents failed transactions from changing domain data incorrectly, helping preserve predictable behavior across permissioned XRPL features.
The release also addresses a trust line token limit issue tied to vault asset withdrawals. Earlier versions could skip a specific verification step under certain transaction paths, so the amendment closes that gap before more activity builds around vault and lending tools.
Validator Coordination Becomes Critical
Validator coordination is now the main issue. XRPL amendments need a network agreement before activation, but once the rule change goes live, old servers cannot participate correctly if they lack the required software.
That does not mean the network stops. Instead, outdated nodes risk falling out of sync until operators upgrade and reconnect under the new ruleset.
Meanwhile, the vet said efforts are underway to inform exchanges and verify that they have been updated. He also asked users to contact XRPL projects they use, including DEX interfaces and NFT marketplaces, so those teams can update within the remaining window.
The deadline now places attention on operational readiness rather than price action. If more nodes move to 3.1.3 before activation, the transition should become smoother. If many remain outdated, some services may face temporary connectivity problems once the amendment blocking begins.
