  • The US Senate failed to pass the CLARITY Act into law in a September 15 vote.
  • XRP declined approximately 13% shortly after the CLARITY Act Senate vote failed.
  • Ripple insists the pullback is temporary as XRP remains legally and fundamentally stable.

Ripple has confirmed its stability and that of its associated products despite the US Senate’s failure to pass the CLARITY Act into law. In an official publication, the fintech company noted that it, along with XRP, the cryptocurrency it created, “stands on settled ground.”

XRP Remains Legally Stable

Despite registering its disappointment on the outcome of the September 15 Senate vote, Ripple noted that it does not change the legal clarity of XRP, citing the 2023 court ruling establishing that XRP is not a security. According to the publication, Ripple’s footing became even firmer in March 2026, when the SEC and CFTC issued a joint interpretation naming XRP a digital commodity.

Ripple’s Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty followed up with a post supporting the firm’s official position. According to Alderoty, the company expects future rulemaking from both the SEC and CFTC to set out clear rules of the road for the digital asset ecosystem.

XRP’s Pullback is Only Temporal

The failed vote triggered an immediate pullback in XRP’s price, causing the cryptocurrency to decline approximately 13% over a short period in a move that Ripple describes as “cooling down short-term market momentum.” Analysts argue that the sharp drop stems from investors baking in a “regulatory premium” while expecting the bill to pass.

Potential Setbacks for XRP and Crypto

Despite XRP’s established legal clarity, the failure of the CLARITY Act removes the prospect of a formal statutory framework, potentially delaying broader institutional adoption. The absence of clear legislation leaves the asset exposed to shifting regulatory approaches, which could deter institutions waiting for more definitive rules.

Ripple claims the CLARITY Act failed to pass Senate voting because those involved elevated politics over good policy. According to the company, the banking industry worked relentlessly to protect the status quo from progress. Beyond politicians and the banking sector, Ripple also accused groups within the crypto industry of putting their narrow interests ahead of a bill that would have helped everyone.
