Bitget Suffers Major Hack
Bitget confirmed a security incident after detecting abnormal hot wallet transfers at 2:31 AM, with preliminary losses assessed at approximately $351.6 million. CEO Gracy Chen said hackers breached a key backend system of the wallet service to forge transfer information and invoke the authorized signature process, ruling out private key leakage as the cause.
Stolen assets spanned multiple tokens, including 102.93 million XRP worth roughly $157.48 million and 31,890 ETH worth about $85.75 million, according to Lookonchain monitoring, with the attacker converting most EVM-chain funds into 67,982 ETH worth approximately $183 million.
Security firm Specter linked the attack to North Korea’s Lazarus Group, tying it to the TraderTraitor-attributed AFX breach from July. Bitget said cold wallets and the majority of platform assets remain unaffected, and confirmed losses will be covered by its Protection Fund, which holds 5,500 BTC worth about $464 million.
Polymarket Faces New York Lawsuit
New York Attorney General Letitia James and Governor Kathy Hochul sued Polymarket’s U.S. business arm, QCX LLC, alleging the platform operated an illegal gambling business without a license. The state is seeking to bar the company from operating in New York, demanding it turn over illegal proceeds, compensate customers, and pay fines equal to three times those proceeds. Polymarket launched its U.S. platform in December 2025 with sports-outcome betting markets.

JPMorgan said Bitcoin briefly broke above its estimated $85,000 average production cost this week, ending a 280-day streak below that level, which could ease pressure on miners to sell.
