Ledger Faced Earlier Warning Signs

Former Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpelès said at least two people reported tampered Ledger devices as early as December 2025. Security researcher Joe Grand separately said he reported a Nano X containing a malicious hardware implant to Ledger on March 4, 2026, and that Ledger confirmed his findings at the time and said it was investigating internally.

Both questioned whether Ledger failed to warn customers promptly; Ledger declined to comment further beyond its public statement on X, raising fresh scrutiny of the company’s handling of the ongoing CryptoBilis supply chain incident.

Quantum Alliance Forms

Nine crypto firms, including Hacken, Midnight Foundation, Quantus and Postquant Labs, announced the formation of the Quantum Alliance to develop shared quantum-resistant security standards and publish migration guidelines for networks like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

The alliance estimates roughly 6.4 million BTC, or 30.2% of total supply, carry exposed public keys, including about 1.1 million BTC attributed to Satoshi Nakamoto. Postquant Labs CTO Richard Carback said the threat could materialize by 2028 and advocated moving at-risk coins rather than freezing them.

Fidelity Flags Bitcoin-Treasury Yield Correlation

Fidelity Digital Assets reported that Bitcoin’s correlation with the 10-year real interest rate has turned positive and exceeded 0.6 in 2026, a record high, as US federal debt surpassed $40 trillion and interest expenses overtook Medicare as the second-largest federal budget item.

Over the past two months, Bitcoin rose nearly 30% while the 10-year Treasury yield rose more than 10%, which Fidelity attributed to growing demand for Bitcoin as a hedge against currency devaluation and sovereign debt risk amid mounting fiscal pressure.

Charles Schwab Opens Bitcoin Access

Charles Schwab, which manages roughly $13 trillion in assets, announced all clients can now purchase Bitcoin directly within their accounts, extending access to more than 40 million US users.

The firm’s Schwab Crypto service, launched in phases since April, supports BTC and ETH trading at a 0.75% fee with Paxos providing sub-custody, though it remains unavailable to New York and Louisiana residents.

Strive’s Bitcoin Accumulation Beats Forecasts

TD Cowen raised its price target on Strive from $44 to $56, maintaining a Buy rating, after the company’s Bitcoin purchases over two weeks exceeded the firm’s full-quarter estimate. Strive’s holdings grew from 28,000 BTC at the end of September to 35,595 BTC worth about $2.9 billion, a net increase of nearly 7,600 coins against TD Cowen’s original 4,750-coin estimate, moving the company to fourth place among public Bitcoin holders, narrowly ahead of MARA.
