  • Bougalis had been highly influential among his colleagues, especially because of his contributions to the XRP project.

Nik Bougalis, the software engineer, cryptographer, and author of the XLS-20 amendment proposal, who had been designated as the Director of Engineering at Ripple, recently announced his resignation from the post.

Bougalis tweeted that after a long decade of the fantastic journey with Ripple, he had decided to take a complete break:

Though his decision to leave the company was a pretty difficult task for him, he asserted that he would move forward with the plan. Furthermore, he stated that he wouldn’t join any other crypto-related companies in the future.

He emphasized that his years with Ripple were much interesting that he worked on a project that he loved and a goal that he believed in. On leaving the company, he firmly believes that the XRP Ledger (XRPL) would continue to function in his absence, as it is run by an efficient team.

While the engineer disclosed his decision, the members of the XRPL team showered him with emotional responses. One of the leading XRPL developers, Wietse Wind conveyed his regards for Bougalis’s future adventures.

Wind tweeted in response to Bougalis’s announcement, expressing his gratitude for the contribution of Bougalis to the XRP project.

Also, Emi Yoshikawa, the Vice President of Strategy and Operations at Ripple, hailed the engineer as the “bedrock of the XRPL community”. She stated that she had been lucky to work with him. She added that she would look forward to meeting him “as a special guest in a future XRP meet-up in Japan”.

The love and gratitude extended by his team members are evident enough to realize the position of Nik Bougalis and his contributions to the XRP project.
