  • Hotter inflation or hawkish Fed signals could pressure BTC, while cooler data may spark a relief rally.

Bitcoin begins one of the most crowded weeks of 2026 around $80,000, with a Federal Reserve decision, inflation and growth data, a heavy earnings slate, and Bitcoin options expiry on Deribit all due before the end of this week.

Week at a Glance

  • Tuesday, October 27: Consumer confidence at 10 a.m. ET, September New Home Sales, and Israel’s election.
  • Wednesday, October 28:Federal Funds Rate and FOMC statement at 2 p.m. ET, Microsoft and Alphabet earnings report.
  • Thursday, October 29: Third-quarter GDP and September PCE inflation at 8:30 a.m. ET, the European Central Bank decision, and earnings reports from Amazon, Intel, Coinbase, and Strategy.

Fed: A Hold Is Priced, the Message Is Not

The Fed raised rates in September for the first time since 2023, to a range of 3.75% to 4.00%. CME FedWatch puts the chance of a hold at 90.6%, so the decision itself is unlikely to move prices. Warsh’s tone will. Hints at a December hike, which the tool prices at 72.4%, would push Treasury yields and the dollar higher, conditions that have weighed on Bitcoin in the past.

PCE and GDP: Hotter Numbers, Higher Stakes

September’s PCE inflation is forecast at 3.6%–3.7% year over year, up from 3.4% in August and well above the Fed’s 2% target. Meanwhile, third-quarter GDP growth is expected to accelerate to 3.2% from 2.2%. If inflation rises alongside stronger economic growth, markets may scale back expectations for monetary easing, putting pressure on risk assets and increasing liquidation risks for leveraged crypto traders. Conversely, cooler inflation data could ease rate concerns and support a relief rally.

Earnings: Appetite for Risk

Roughly a fifth of S&P 500 companies report. Microsoft, Alphabet and Amazon, worth over $10 trillion combined, will show whether AI spending still excites investors, which steers the Nasdaq, a market Bitcoin has often followed.

Options Expiry

Around $11 billion in Bitcoin options are scheduled to expire on Deribit on October 30, representing roughly 35% of the exchange’s total BTC options open interest. Calls outnumber puts, with the largest concentration at the $95,000 strike, while the estimated max-pain level sits near $78,000. However, max pain is a calculation based on open interest, not a price target, and does not mean Bitcoin will move toward that level. The expiry could influence short-term volatility as positions settle, but its effect will depend on market conditions and hedging activity.

Bitcoin faces a pivotal week as the Fed decision, inflation data, GDP figures, major technology earnings, and $11 billion in options expiry could influence market direction. Hotter inflation or a hawkish Fed message could pressure BTC, while cooler data may support a relief rally. With several catalysts arriving within days, volatility could rise as traders reassess interest-rate expectations and risk appetite.
