- Bitcoin realized profits hit $1.03 billion, the second-highest daily total of 2026.
- Short-term holders sent over 29,500 BTC to exchanges at a loss, 59% of their inflows.
- Crypto liquidations reached $1.16 billion, including about $1 billion in long bets.
Bitcoin recorded its second-highest daily realized profit reading of 2026 as holders locked in approximately $1.03 billion following a surge above $87,000.
According to Santiment data, the surge missed the year’s $1.04 billion peak, coinciding with a price retreat as separate data showed recent buyers transferring coins to exchanges at a loss.
Bitcoin Profit-Taking Approaches the Year’s Record
The reading surpassed earlier realized profit spikes of $950 million and $646 million. Santiment’s chart showed repeated profit realization during Bitcoin’s recovery from June lows below $60,000. That recovery weakened, with the chart showing Bitcoin declining toward 81,600 after trading around the mid-80,000 range.

Santiment’s network realized profit/loss indicator measures gains or losses recorded when coins move on-chain. Large positive readings indicate that transferred holdings carried high gains relative to their previous cost basis.
At the time of writing, Bitcoin was trading at $82,319.98, down by 0.36% over the past 24 hours, with trading volume reaching approximately $43.2 billion. Its market capitalization stood at approximately $1.65 trillion, holding its position as the largest cryptocurrency.
Recent Buyers Transfer Bitcoin at a Loss
While some holders recorded gains, CryptoQuant’s figures showed losses among recently acquired holdings moving to exchanges. Short-term holders transferred more than 50,000 BTC to exchanges at the reported 24-hour peak. More than 29,500 BTC moved at a loss, accounting for approximately 59% of the cohort’s exchange inflows.
These figures cover a different measure from Santiment’s realized profit reading. They track short-term holders’ exchange transfers, showing that profitable on-chain movements occurred alongside loss-bearing transfers among recent buyers.
Crypto Liquidations Reach $1.16 Billion
CoinGlass reported $1.09 billion in liquidations across crypto derivatives over the last 24 hours. The breakdown included about $1 billion in bullish positions and $108 million in short positions.
Those component figures total $1.108 billion, resulting in a discrepancy with the stated overall liquidation figure in the supplied data.
Bitcoin’s latest profit-taking spike shows that many holders used the rally above $87,000 to lock in gains, while recent buyers continued sending coins to exchanges at a loss. With more than $1 billion in crypto liquidations reported over 24 hours, the combination points to heightened selling pressure and market volatility as Bitcoin struggles to regain upward momentum.
