- Gold sits 28.1% below its $5,599 peak, while Bitcoin remains 36.7% below $126,200.
- Bitcoin ETFs drew $137.3M on October 28, their third straight day of net inflows.
- BTC faces $87,400 resistance, while gold faces $4,700 amid 2.67% real Treasury yields.
At press time, Gold has the shorter route to its record, but Bitcoin shows stronger near-term demand signals. October 29 TradingView charts put BTC at $79,862, 36.7% below $126,200, while gold traded near $4,023, 28.1% below $5,599. Despite this difference, the price analysis shows that neither asset has confirmed a sustained bullish reversal, making momentum an important factor in determining which could reclaim its peak first.
| Metric | Bitcoin (BTC) | Gold (XAUUSD) |
| Current Price | $79,862 | $4,023 |
| Previous ATH | $126,200 | $5,599 |
| Below ATH | 36.7% | 28.1% |
| Required Recovery | 58% | 39% |
Lower Highs Challenge Bullion’s Distance Advantage
According to TradingView charts, gold needs approximately 39% to reclaim its peak, against 58% for Bitcoin. Yet XAUUSD has formed lower rebound highs since its record, with advances failing near $4,600. As a result, support remains at $3,950–$4,050, while the $4,600–$4,700 range continues to act as immediate resistance.

Bitcoin, on the other hand, rebounded from $58,000–$62,000 before sellers emerged near $87,300. BTC now faces $84,000–$87,400 resistance, followed by $92,000 and $97,925. The price analysis, however, shows a recovery without weekly breakout confirmation.

Hence, BTC faces immediate support at $74,967, and a break below this level could weaken its recovery further. Meanwhile, XAUUSD risks falling toward $3,250–$3,500 if gold loses $3,950 support. On the upside, gold faces higher resistance levels at $4,891 and $5,419.
Therefore, price analysis across both charts requires sustained weekly closes above resistance to confirm stronger momentum. These contrasting trends consequently complicate a simple distance-based ATH comparison.

Bitcoin ETF Inflows Improve as Gold Faces 2.67% Real Yields
Meanwhile, Bitcoin ETF demand has improved, with SoSoValue reporting $137.3 million in net inflows on October 28, following $176 million the previous day. This marked three consecutive positive sessions after earlier October withdrawals.

However, BTC remains sensitive to Fed policy, liquidity, dollar strength, and risk appetite. The Federal Reserve held rates at 3.75%–4% on October 28, with two policymakers favoring an increase.
Gold also faces pressure from U.S. 10-year real yields at 2.67%. Nevertheless, XAUUSD retains support from 39 tonnes of net central-bank purchases in August and potential geopolitical safe-haven demand. Meanwhile, price analysis considers September PCE inflation data, due October 29, which could influence yields and the dollar.
Bitcoin vs Gold: Which Has the Stronger Path to a New ATH?
Basically, gold remains closer, but Bitcoin has stronger evidence of recovering momentum from its rebound and improved ETF demand. Nevertheless, neither has cleared decisive resistance. For Bitcoin, price analysis centers on a sustained weekly close above $87,400, accompanied by continued inflows.
BTC would then face $92,000, $97,925, and $100,071 before reaching $126,200. For Gold, price analysis requires XAUUSD to clear $4,700 alongside softer real yields and dollar weakness. XAUUSD then faces $4,891 and $5,419 before its $5,599 record.
The comparison therefore favors BTC on current momentum, while bullion retains the shorter distance. An XAUUSD breakout would change that comparison, while BTC’s failure at $87,400 could erode its advantage.
Key Technical Levels
| Indicator | Bitcoin | Gold |
