  • Bitget marks 8 years with more than 125M users and a focus on security and transparency.
  • Proof of Reserves expands from 4 to 19 assets, with reserves at 135% in September 2026.
  • Bitget strengthens market monitoring, compliance and user protection as it expands its UEX platform.

Bitget celebrated its eighth anniversary, with Chief Legal Officer Hon Ng highlighting the company’s transparency, security, and regulatory compliance.

Ng said Bitget has grown from a crypto derivatives exchange into a platform with more than 125 million users. It is also working toward its Universal Exchange (UEX) vision, which covers crypto, tokenized stocks, commodities, and other global markets.

As Bitget expands into new markets and assets, Ng said users can expect stronger security, infrastructure, and safeguards.

Bitget Expands Proof of Reserves to 19 Assets

Bitget introduced Proof of Reserves in December 2022 and has shared reserve data every month since then. The exchange says it keeps at least 1:1 reserves for user assets and uses Merkle Tree technology so users can check that their assets are included.

In September 2026, Bitget’s 46th Proof of Reserves report showed a total reserve ratio of 135%. Its average reserve ratio has stayed above 120%.

As part of its eighth anniversary, Bitget is expanding its Proof of Reserves coverage from four assets to 19.

Ng said this will give users more visibility into the reserves supporting the assets available on the platform. He also said Proof of Reserves is only one part of protecting users. Account security, market integrity, and strong operational controls are also important.

Protection Fund Averages $382M

Bitget also highlighted its Protection Fund, created in 2022 with an initial $300 million commitment to protect users in extreme situations.

According to Ng, the fund had an average value of about $382 million in August 2026. He said the fund is an extra layer of protection and does not replace Bitget’s security measures.

These measures include two-factor authentication, passkeys, Anti-Phishing Codes, device controls, withdrawal protections, transaction monitoring, fraud detection, and systems that identify unusual activity.

Market Integrity Framework Targets Suspicious Activity

Bitget said it is also taking steps to protect the market and detect suspicious activity. Earlier in 2026, the exchange introduced its Market Integrity and Token Accountability Framework to monitor listed assets, project teams, and market makers.

The framework looks for risks such as unusual wallet activity, market manipulation, low liquidity, and other suspicious trading. If it finds misconduct, Bitget may issue warnings, limit accounts, freeze funds, suspend trading, or delist an asset.

The framework also makes projects and market makers more accountable for their activities on the platform.

UEX Expansion Brings New Compliance Challenges

Ng said Bitget’s regulatory responsibilities have grown as it expands into more markets and asset types. Bitget has obtained registrations, licenses, and approvals in countries and regions including Argentina, Australia, El Salvador, Georgia, Mauritius, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa, Switzerland, and the UK.

Its compliance measures include identity checks, anti-money laundering controls, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, and working with regulators.

The UEX model creates extra challenges because crypto, tokenized stocks, and commodities have different rules and risks. To address these risks, Bitget is working with BlockSec on a UEX Security Standard. It covers financial solvency, risk management, data protection, monitoring, and cybersecurity.

Bitget Enters Ninth Year With Focus on User Protection

Ng said Bitget’s eight years in the industry have shown the importance of improving transparency, security, and compliance as the platform grows.

He said that as Bitget expands its products and markets, it also has more responsibility to protect users and their assets.

Bitget’s eighth-anniversary theme, “Built for Trades,” focuses on security, transparency, and strong operating standards as the company enters its ninth year.

The company said it will continue to protect user assets, strengthen its controls, and give users more information about how the platform operates as it expands its UEX offering.
