- Bitget’s latest report shows 54% of aspiring Web3 professionals struggle to secure their first industry role.
- Experience requirements and lack of practical training remain the biggest barriers for entry-level talent.
- AI-blockchain integration topped career choices, while mentorship ranked as top support.
A new report from Bitget has revealed that more than half of aspiring Web3 professionals are unable to get their first job in the industry. The company said the findings show a disconnect between blockchain education and employment opportunities.
Notably, the report was published as part of Bitget’s Blockchain4Youth (B4Y) initiative. The Web3 Next-Gen Talent Intelligence Report says that the industry’s workforce challenges come more from hiring barriers than from a lack of talent.
Experience Gap Blocks Entry Level Talent
According to the report, 54% of respondents said experience requirements for junior positions are the biggest obstacle to entering the Web3 industry.
Another 52% said their educational programs provided strong theoretical knowledge but lacked job-ready training. While blockchain education continues to expand, employment opportunities have not grown at the same pace.
The report also found that many qualified candidates are caught in a cycle where they need experience to get hired, but cannot get experience without first securing a role. As a result, the industry faces a talent access problem rather than a talent shortage.
Emerging Markets Lead Web3 Talent
The study also highlighted the role of emerging markets in the future Web3 workforce. Participants from Nigeria, Indonesia, and China made up about half of all respondents.
Nearly 46% of participants were between 23 and 30 years old. More than 58% had Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degrees.
AI-Blockchain Roles Attract the Most Interest
The report found that the combination of artificial intelligence and blockchain is now the most attractive career path for many aspiring professionals.
About 61% of respondents selected AI-blockchain integration as their preferred area of focus.
Despite strong interest in the sector, respondents repeatedly pointed to a lack of practical exposure. Around 62% said mentorship from experienced professionals would be the most valuable support for accelerating their careers.
Bitget Urges Stronger Industry Support
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said the industry has successfully attracted talent from around the world. However, the next challenge is converting that interest into real employment opportunities.
“The findings show there is a large pool of motivated and educated candidates, but many are struggling to take the first step into the industry,” Chen said. She added that closing this gap will be critical for the industry’s next phase of growth.
The report comes as Bitget’s Blockchain4Youth Learning Hub has surpassed 10,000 registered learners worldwide. The company seeks to connect learning with real-world career opportunities through educational partnerships, mentorship programs, and the Blockchain4Youth Talent Alliance.
The report concludes that stronger collaboration between educational institutions, employers, learning platforms, and industry participants is a must to bridge the gap between education and employment.
